I stumble back to my car still catching my breath, four hours gone in what felt like minutes. We actually talked first, real talk, not small talk, her hand on my knee while we laughed over wine, that slow burn building until I forgot why I'd even shown up. When we finally got to it, she wasn't going through motions; she was there, meeting me stroke for stroke, saying things that sounded like she meant them, looking at me like I was the only thing in the room. By the end we were both wrecked, giggling in a pile of messed-up sheets, and she walked me to the door like we were something more than business. Now I'm sitting here with her perfume still on my shirt, wondering how the hell I'm supposed to focus on anything else this week.
