A knock just shy of the appointed hour, and there she was: beautiful like her pictures and with deep-set dark eyes, elegant like a 1940's starlet, tall enough to look me right in the eye, Marylin.
I had wanted to see Marylin for months, but had scheduling difficulties. I'm sorry I waited so long. arylin is smart, well-educated, and confident. We talked a lot, about a lot of things--which is good, because I certainly like to talk, myself. And she's a lot of fun--she really enjoys life. Like many elite ladies, she has great emotional understanding and often could intuit what I wanted before I really knew for myself.
We chatted a bit while I called down to retrieve my car, and then headed out to Palisade for dinner, making only one easily-corrected wrong turn. Surprisingly for a Friday night, it wasn't very busy, but Marylin in her brand-new green dress attracted her share of interested stares. The meal, well, it was a fine Palisade meal, and Marylin expertly negotiated with the wine steward to pick just the right wine for the occasion. We shared most of a slice of cake, then returned to the hotel. Seated across from each other at dinner, we'd been forced by circumstance to keep our hands to ourselves, but that was no longer a problem once we were in the car (or the lobby or elevator, for that matter).
I asked Marylin to let me take care of her clothes...
