But through the article?
Mainstream Sex work isn’t for everyone. There are always room for improvement for the “system” to work but how it is now reflects what people want.
You have to have a thick skin, expect being threatened or violated if you aren’t informed enough about your job, or cannot hold boundaries. Going into this without mentorship or guidance can be a death sentence. You can only enjoy this if you know what to do and how not to make stupid mistakes.
Their experiences and point of view aren’t invalid, because yes the line of “work” attracts bad experiences. Sex workers have to understand what invisible forces control consumer thought, habits, take precautions and use self defense. You cannot keep all of that in mind being in a constant state of distress.
Again the system isn’t perfect, but unless ALL sex workers take accountability for what happens unfairly or not, the system will always win. And what I mean by that is punishing assholes, having situational awareness and common sense.
Not many providers feel the need to use pimps to manage and protect anymore because more often than not, they’re just lazy abusers and not impressive. You just buy a template, follow conduct and just be sharp. If one is starting out, they cannot do it alone without any kind of help.
You work with the system or work without it.
Now some people do feel trapped! I sympathize because I’ve been in that situation once. At that time you have to decide which is a better way to struggle towards stability. Being constantly raped without a guarantee of saving a dime didn’t seem to be one of them. Mainstream isn’t known to be lucrative, especially with every neighborhood somebody posting an ad asking and promising the same thing. Most of the time if there is no optimizing your business you’re going to be stuck, compounded with having low self worth, terrible attitude, and not knowing how to limit bad risk.
I’d say keep “sex work” and compensated dating. Although most people are too vanilla to accept the concepts, it would be disastrous to have an abrupt halt on unlimited TNA, TLC by forcing people into monogamy with their own hands.
So if a sex worker, or compensated dater doesn’t enjoy sex work or compensated dating, they should do something else.
And if either are gone, there’s gotta be another way to do them!
