just saw Tucker Carlson interview Briney Spears on CNN. i was wondering if anyone else saw it ... frankly, 'twas hilarious, he was looking at her with this disapproving frown the whole time (good for him) and she was just ditzing out to the MAX, chewing bubble-gum and acting like the 13-yr-old which she still is (emotionally)

Tucker, who i admire even as a Leftist (for his intelligence not his views), dogged her on some political questions: do you support this president, the war, etc?  to which she replied (like a pre-programmed focus-group-tuned robot: "i believe we should trust our president" etc)

when he asked her (paraphrasing) 'how do you reconile your current slutty image with your old fans?' and the Madonna kiss/etc, she gave the usual inane defensive answer, 'just having phun, is all' ... (oh yes, she also said she wants to phuck singleton's brains out, but the audio dropped out right at that moment


anyway, i guess i'm just venting cuz the more i see her pro-teen pudgy bubblegum-snapping "phat" pretty face on the tube the more i cringe (or so it seems) ... in fact, i'm beginning to develop this fantasy of kidnapping her and taking her to my dungeon, donning the restraints (leather straps, dog-collar, horse harness, blindfolds, red ball-gag, handcuffs, did i leave anything out? PIG?     AND ... read her whole passages from Tucker Carlson's new book!

I remember listening to 'my' music as a kid and having my father (a product of the Big Band & Swing era) saying 'turn that crap down!  It's not music and it's too damned loud') and remember thinking to myself "Old man, it's not too loud, you're too old!"

Later in life, I remember working with kids in their 20's who would literally go NUTS at the strains of Muzak (elevator music) and I used to think that I was somehow superior because I could listen to Tommy Dorsey, Muzak, Iron Butterfly and / or smashing pumpkins and at least tolerate that which I couldn't really appreciate.

But nowadays ... when the radio is tuned to that black girl-group-monotonous-tight-chord-repetitive-harmony and / or Hip/Hop "Motherf*cker kill the bitch" stuff I think to myself that it's not really music and it's too damned loud.  and I just KNOW that my kid is thinking "Old man, it's not too loud, you're too old!"

Madonna - if kissing Britney is all you can think to do to provoke people ... your 15 minutes are UP!

Cher - Babe, I won't go to or watch your Farewell Tour unless I get it in writing that you're really going to GO!

Britney, Christina, Spice Girls, et al - you all just blur together into one teeny bopper that seems to have only one effect on society lately, that of bringing back crop tops and for that I thank you.  Other than that, you're what the military calls "not a factor" and I'll wait patiently until your careers fizzle and you're reviewed as providers here.

Singelton - the beauty of the system is that these little fluffs get older every day and their singular appeal starts to fade and sag ... while guys like us get more distingusished looking.

If you guys aren't two of the most "imbalanced" individuals I have the pleasure of being acquainted with, then I will become the president of the Britney Spears fan club!  That is why you would be the perfect presidential ticket... the country is more balanced when someone who is sexually imbalanced is in the White House.  We need to think about sex and not death.

Speaking of the self-absorbed Ms. Spears, as the recent VH1 specials on her and other pop/hip-hop superstars so vividly documented, they wouldn't be the successes they are unless they were who they are...and I don't mean that in a good way.  The fault is more ours in glorifying such celebrities, as the good people from "60 Minutes" so bluntly pointed out in the attached article.

As for you, Singey, you may be right about swing (as my Edward Kennedy Ellington CD's attest to), but as far as Britney, I think your mentioning her so much illustrates that you not only are obsessed with her (in spite of your protestations to the contrary), but that your whole bit about being so hot for flat-chested brunettes is just a cover for your hidden love of busty blondes.

I, for one, think Christina, Britney, Justin and the whole teeny bopper craze is a bunch of no-talents.  As a marketing person, I am impressed by their management and record companies.  It's all about packaging and promotion.  How many no-talents (now has beens, New Kids, Spice Girls, etc.) can you count?

However, I must admit a great deal of their appeal is strictly appearance.  I did watch part of Britney's HBO special (with the sound down) : )

I won't say I like them all, but some of them make me feel young, make me feel like dancing.

I LOVE Chrisitina's "Stripped" CD.  I like her little poochy tummy her booty, and her CURRENT image.  A little seedier than the former blonde fluffy one.

I don't take cable, so I'm not getting this stuff crammed down my throat 24/7, I enjoy the snippets I get on the fluff new channels.  I enjoy fluff.

Yeah, I typed that too.  I CRAVE the lighter side of life these days.  That's what entertainers do for us.

Madonna's "Music" track is another great one to shake my bod to.  A great endorphin push!

And I enjoy my Doors albums just as much as the rappers sometimes.  So shoot me for enjoying and not Hatin as the kids say.  Anything that brings a smile is worth its weight in gold, as they say.  If I don't like it, I don't buy it.  (no radio in the car, I depend on tapes off of the CD's I invest in!)

Call me the smiling minimalist!  And quit the hatin of entertainers! (Just turn them off and don't buy them!) Save the hatin for the politicians!

All I can say is that I still have not found any artists worth buying a CD player for. Yup!! I pirate a few things to tape occasionally and enjoy my collection of LPs.

I think Christina has a lot of singing talent (she needs to stop wearing the clothes she's been wearin - or go to the gym).  It's the damn Britneys, Beyonces, JLos (some okay songs), Justins, Avriles, ... that I'm sick of.
