When I first started in P4P, before I discovered TER, I was seeing indies almost exclusively.  I was seeing indies all the way up to $1K an hour.  However, after my first 20 girls or so, I realized that there was rarely ever a difference between a girl at $1k an hour and $500/hr, and I can honestly say that I always got better service booking two hours at $500 than one hour at $1000.  

Say it takes a provider an hour to get ready for an hour appointment and another hour to clean up for the next event that is three hours( put any time there )  
Hour two takes no more time on either end  
That being said 500 / 800 would still be a better return on the second hour
