On the regional boards it seems to be an unspoken rule that only hobbyist-provider topics should be addressed & I can understand that. However, this is a GENERAL topics board---can such topics as current events, business, entertainment & culture be brought up here ? These are subjects that wouldn't be brought up on the P & R board.

The reason I bring this up is because I have a REAL serious topic to be addressed----not one that deals with the the loins of hobbyists & providers. I think that sentient providers & hobbyists would be interested to comment on this
( & there are plenty of them who post here ). The proposed topic would deal with 2  disturbing trends I've noticed in this country over the last
44 years----one comes from the left side of the cultural spectrum----the other from the right. (yes-----it does deal with politics for a bit .)

However, I will NOT post this topic until I get a consensus vote from those who post here whether it's ok to do this or not. If a majority of bloggers ( or posters ), say it's ok for me to do this by 5pm PST tomorrow I'll do it---if a majority say no, I won't. What I DON'T want are people getting their butts in a sling merely by me broaching this subject. If they get all steamed up about me merely PROPOSING a topic here, I'd HATE to see how they react to stress in the off-line world.

Anyway, starting Tue., I'm going on a 4 day vacation & I DON'T have a laptop----so you'll get rid of me for awhile----at least for 4 days-----

for the most part, if a topic interest me, I will read and respond... if I've the time.  if not, I will move on.  I read and post on 4 boards most of the time...

what is where?  sometimes I forget.  for the most part.... stuff sometimes starts here and migrates to one of the other national or local boards...  

I don't care what you post - as long as you have a very thick skin! lol!  cause sometimes you will need it.... I have!  lol!  good luck.

People with some common sense will read and respond in a mature manner if they feel it is of some importance to them. The other category of people who will respond are the ones that have nothing better to do than getting all upset over EVERYTHING, however we can never make everybody happy. But I understand the reasoning...because if we are going to have defend what we write at every corner we'd rather not write anything at all. But some people like to focus on the negative stuff in their life and we can't protect ourselves from them fully and totally.

Attitude is everything in life. People who have a positive attitude will welcome any intelligent conversation and subject brought up here and well...the other ones are just negative and they can't be helped.

So I would say; Go ahead and write about something that you feel is important

When I first got involved with TER at the end of 2002, I was inspired to see a place that combined talk about sexual issues with discussions about many others issues, and in a forum with (at that time) many interesting and eloquent posters.

After years of SOME people whining about how this site is only for talking about, as Jim Belushi said in "About Last Night", "Tits and ass, tits and ass...bonnie blue, bonnie blue, bonnie blue!", many of the most interesting characters I knew on here stopped posting or left the site altogether.  

I am always happy to see threads started on here about other topics, like music, or social issues, or movies (Hi, Ciara Phx! , or wine and food, or whatever.  There are still some good people that really get into interesting talks on here about stuff other than the pursuit of sexual gratification.  However, there seem to be many more that either discourage it or only contribute nudge nudge humor to it.

Having said that...

I STRONGLY DISCOURAGE posting anything REMOTELY political on here, as it usually will start a firestorm that will overshadow the point of your original thread. Our country is (and by extension, our members are) so politically polarized now that someone will inevitably say something that is too partisan, someone else will take exception, and then the gloves are off. Even if it is a little political, I highly advise you keep it on the P/R board.  While it would be great to talk to those who aren't 100% partisan like the P/R members (and, in reality, those are the ones who need to hear political talk the most, in our apathetic society), someone from the P/R usually will put their 2c in, and then we go over the cliff.

Okay, sorry for the rant, but I miss the days of REAL general discussion on here a lot.

Sex, music, sex, tv shows, movies, cars, sex, pussy, sex, BUT NOT politics or religion.  There's a separate forum for it.   I never go there as I don't need those opinions in my life.

Just like we don't want to be degrading to a specific provider, I don't want my religion or political persuasion hit on.  It's way too personal.  If you don't like my favorite car, football team, golf club, restaurant, condom, provider, or whatever, that's fine.  

So, no politics and no religion on here and all is to me is ok.   After all this is "The Erotic Review General Forum" and "over there" to the left is the Political and Religious forums.

You have aroused my curiosity, so i say post away as long as the questions[s] bear any relation to human sexual behaviors/needs and the satisfaction of same via the hobby.

Even if they don't, post anyway.  The worst that can happen?  You'll be flamed by some.   But you oughtn't to lose any sleep over it.

But did you not pose the Hillary/Rudy question a week or o ago?  THAT'S  what ought to be avoided, as it's requesting purely partisan respones on a puely political question.

IF you decide NOT to post it here, please post it on P&R.

Let's just say the handle is a reflection of my struggle to control my own urges and bad choices...my doppelganger.

But politics isn't one of them and neither is religion. If this is just going to be a revisiting of the "Not Hillary or Rudy" type of thread that you tried to put in here a while back I would say thank you kindly but no thanks. Folks who are interested in politics read the P&R board.  The rest of us don't.  So I guess I would just ask you to be honest with yourself about what the topic is really about and then go for it!

Actaully, all of this started before my Hillary /Rudy thread-----some "genius" put up a humorous piece mocking the upcoming Democratic convention-----followed by Holey's piece mocking Bill Clinton. How come no one gets outraged by those threads ? Hell----if someone wants to humorously mock the left, then I'll mock the right. Fair's fair---if you don't want a political firestorm here, you have to condemn it from BOTH sides.

I actaully thought my Hillary/Rudy thread was quite mild----startled at the reaction it got in some quarters.

I'll keep monitoring the posts here to decide if I'll put my thread up tomorrow.

When I start reading it, if I don't like it then I will stop reading it and move on. I don't care to get into any real hardcore arguing or debating over anything. I like to come here to relax and chill from the pressures in life. I will not add to them by getting involved in an inane arguement on a forum based on an activity that should be what releases the stress of life in us all.

If others want to respond and discuss, and even debate/argue then that is up to those involved.

I remember when it was well received to write poetry, tell jokes and talk about our day on the board. I personally miss it. I certainly welcome something other than tits versus ass.

Multiple topics are good including T & A but no politics or religion.  Also, I don't think you will get much of a response to anything of a real serious nature.

This board should be fun for both the ladies and the gents.

I've always urged that it be on the P&R board, which I never visit.

I'm here for hobbying discussions and other "light social" issues that don't fall in the P&R section.

It's coming up on midnight and you all are in the middle of your day.  I haven't had a good night sleep in 5 days - that really keeps your wanger soft.
