This is the way of the world. Anyone who doesn't like it can scream "gold digger!!!" and "dirty old man!!!" all they want.

But the cold hard fuck-you-up-the-ass truth is that in EVERY one of these scenarios, BOTH parties may be functioning as an opportunist at some level, BY CHOICE, openly and admittedly or wrapped in denial.

Now, I could see a preacher in his pulpit getting worked up over the issue as he spouts his version of morality to his congregation, condemming the whole scenario as sin and succumbing to the devil with lust for the flesh on one side, and greed for amterial things on the other. But somehow this doesn't seem to be the place for such misdirected ideals.

Here's the way I see this scenario:

He wanted her her body, her sex, her beauty, the status she gave as armcandy and companion. TRANSLATE: HE WANTED HER BEING.

How much of her did he get??? Sounds like got all of that from her, likely most of what she had. How much is that worth??? I won't place a value on that.

She wanted the security, the status and the lifestyle that he could provide. TRANSLATE: SHE WANTED THE RESOURCE HE COULD GIVE HER.

How much of him did he get??? It doesn't appear to be much, and certainly not what he dangled in front of her to keep her hot young body and attention for himself.

So, you see his resources are ABSOLUTELY revelevant. They are the basis of the whole issue.

Who am I to state what I think?

Well, I am me. And when I am put in a jury box with 11 other people, I might just be called upon to settle such an issue. I might even be called on to decide if someone should live or die. So, I better fuckin well be able to form opinions and make judgements, and hopefully do so in an educated and informed way based on what I can see.

So, I repeat: Base on what I see, SHE DESERVES every goddamn penny she can get awsrded to her. It won't hurt him one bit.

I definitely agree that if he did actually become physically abusive, she should have filed a police report.  Her failing to do that would cause me to *lean* toward believing it didn't happen.  But, I do know that many, many cases of domestic abuse go unreported for a variety of reasons.  Honestly, I'd need to be able to hear both of their sides of the story as well as see/hear testimony regarding the stitches needed in her foot from the attending physician (and that person's account of her attitude and explanatory story at the time).  From what little I know of these things, if the doc suspected domestic abuse, he has a an obligation to report it....

Someone mentioned her being a rather stupid SB to not get her needs met up front.  I completely agree.  If the course of events was truly 1) he promised the apartment [quite believable for an old billionaire to say that to a SB], 2) there was a dispute of some sort and they broke up, 3) he gave the apartment to someone else [indicating he bought it and was in a position to give it away which lends credence to her side of things], 4) they got back together and he promised her another apartment [why would she get back with him without some sort of incentive, again, lends credence to her account].... then yes, she's a goddamn fool for not getting the deal signed, sealed and delivered BEFORE any nookie.  He'd already shown himself to be violent (allegedly) and petty (giving the apartment to someone else), why trust him to deliver after all that?  

But, being stupid is (unfortunately) not a reason for others to not honor their arrangements....presuming there's any integrity to be had by the parties.  Hell, there are plenty of "stupid" people sucking up unemployment (or other social welfare programs) for 2+ years and the rest of us are forced to honor the damn government's "arrangement" for these people (as stupid as that arrangement is in the first place)... but I digress.  Apologies for the tangent...  Her being a dumb SB is not justification for his failure to honor an agreement - IF there ever was one.
