I was sitting in the ambulance in a nearby town, checking out TER on my tablet when the dispatcher sends us a call. Chest Pain, 60ish year old male at one of the local hotels.
I put the tablet away as my partner starts in the direction of the call with lights and sirens. The call notes start coming in as we are en route... "pt has taken "a little blue pill" and has a heart condition". In case y'all don't know taking ED pills while already on medication for a heart problem, can cause a serious drop in your blood pressure.
We arrive on the scene, grab our gear, and head to the room. I knock on the door as I announce we are the paramedics. When the door opens, I know instantly what happened here. A beautiful, thin and tall brunette wearing a sweatshirt and skirt and I notice a pair of high heels against the wall by the TV.
The guy is laying on the bed with a pair of boxers on, long black socks (I just found it funny), and he is sweating his ass off. He surprisingly had no luggage, and is confused when someone asked the name of his "friend", I divert the attention off that question to help save some possible trouble. He wants to be sure we grab all of his clothes and wallet. As we are on the way to the hospital, he tells me what medications he takes daily...and the extra one he took today. I reassure him that I won't give any details to the hospital, and tell him "don't sweat it dude I'm only going to give the medical details not the room number" LOL.
The gentleman is fine, and I have no idea where his "friend" went. To her credit she stuck around and stayed on the phone with 911 until we got there, she was gone by the time we got to the ambulance.
I wonder if this is going to change her screening in the future?
