I'm new to the area and I had always heard that SF is particlarly liberal when it comes to hobbying and law enforcement. That said, two questions:

1. Is it true? Do the SF police stay out of the way for the most part?

2. Can the same be said of other bay area cities? Are there places where it is less advisible to hobby?

I don't know about LE, but there is a very sophisticated scam operation in the Bay Area via backpage.com ads - maybe craigslist as well.

Bottom line, stick with TER gals and you probably will be OK in the LE or scam areas.

My somewhat educated opinion on Bay Area LE

SF - yes, very liberal
Oakland - don't know, but be very careful of neighborhoods
Fremont - Big LE efforts - lots of Asian places and the girls move around a lot
Palo Alto - LE is active and will press charges
San Jose - liberal if you're "out of sight" and don't do stupid things in public.  Many AMP's and they seem to escape attention
Ditto Mountain View and Sunnyvale - lots of AMPs
Walnut Creek is a quiet area with a couple of my fav ladies.  
Alameda - police look out for the steet ladies so don't do dumb things there.  
Oakland south to Fremont...I don't know and don't go there..too many questionable neighborhoods.  Some scams have happened there.

That's my opinion and what I've learned in my short time of hobbying.   I do have some good sources on this.

I am not kidding when I tell you:  I have a relative who is a policeman in a Bay Area city!  Yep...and he thinks all private ladies should be left alone.  As long as they are discrete and cause no outside trouble.
