Congratulations to our own D Backs on their NL West Title and home field advantage in the playoffs.  The stats say they had no business winning the title, let alone the best record in the NL.   True boys of summer they went out an played with heart and good things happened.
Go snakes!

It amazes me that just because they are a women's team that they don't get the recogniation the same as the men.

Comgratulations to the Phoenix Mercury for winning THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.

Oh, yes, it's just amazing that the WNBA Champs don't get the same recognition as the NL West Champs.  Do you ever think before you type?
Oh, and belated congrats to the Mercury--they should be commended for winning the WNBA.  But, let's keep things in context--that doesn't compare to what the Diamondbacks just accomplished.

that even in today's society that men and women are NOT treated equally.  That was my point - that even today we see discrimination big time.

So yes I do "THINK" before I type - obviously you didn't get my point.  So next time could you please post without slamming - what did I ever do to you???

It's not just because they are women, it's that women's basketball, at least at present, is less exciting than men's to the majority of fans.  Some sports the women's side is as popular or more than the men's...gymnastics, tennis, volleyball(both sand and college indoor), and others.  That's not to take away from the accomplishments of the Mercury, but to just broad stroke it as "just because they are women" is overly simplistic and not accurate IMHO.
The market will dictate what will take off and what will have a limited audience.

Men and women are not treated equally, but it cuts both ways I'm afraid.  Even in my 20's when was in significantly better shape and had more hair, nobody was offering me $$$+/hr to have "fun".

From the crowd that was lined up to get in, I thought it was a K.D. Lang or Melissa Etheridge concert.

You make an excellent point SS - men and women are not treated equally.

And you didn't even have to slam me to get it done either.  What a fine gentleman you are.

Now Jeffrey hope you note.
