Many providers welcome advance booking but everyone's definition of advance booking is different.
I welcome bookings months in advance some providers might not.
I would suggest taking a look at the provider's website and see if she mentions about advance booking.
Never hurts to reach out now to see what her availability is.
You don't want to wait until right before your trip and then find out she is not available,out of town,etc.

hit the nail on the head for Vegas.  If there is a particular person you are interested in seeing, as soon as you have definite dates you will be in Vegas, I'd contact her and let her know you'd like to see her and when you are going to be in Vegas.

On the other hand, if it's not a particular person you want to see, I've always found that if you start making contact about 10 days in advance, you shouldn't have any problems finding someone that fits your fancy.  Hey it Vegas after all - right!

If it's a particular provider you want to see, the sooner the better once you know the specific dates you will be there.  If you have no preference, start about 2 weeks before your trip making inquiries.  But, as mentioned, I'd also recommend looking at websites to see if the ladies in question have advance booking rules.

I go on conventions to LV and other cities and line up gals months ahead.

I check in with them once a month just to let them know it's on the level and then a week ahead and a day ahead as well.

I've never had anyone show any sign of annoyance, indeed I think they like the fact that I show interest.

Also, when a traveling gal shows an interest in coming to your town, it's good to contact them early and often so that you get the day and time you want, and also to encourage them to actually make the trip which they may cancel if there is little or no interest shown

I have booked playdates 3 months in advance, and love a guy who plans ahead it makes all the juicy details much more exciting.

You never know if you will be in town or not, so maybe you can make other arrangements.

on one certain evening, then determine who you want to see and contact her now.  It is wise to have a plan B and C in case you need options as the time gets closer and maybe A doesn't respond to your follow-up email since she found someone for a longer date.  This does happen from time to time.

If you are going on vacation and have lots of time to play, then just determine who you might want to see and make contact 2 or 3 weeks ahead of time.
