kissing concerns

I was wondering if it's possible to pass STDs to your kids by kissing them.  I kiss my baby on her forehead everyday, and was wondering if it's possible that I could pass on herpes/HPV/Scarbies if I were a "carrier" of those STDs.  I have been very careful with providers.... but I know you can get herpes by just kissing!  Any ideas?

you are at it, you should ask your SO that she kiss no one (relatives, sibblings, parents, ect) but you.

I think herpes-1 can be pass on by kissing the baby around the mouth area.  From what I understand 80% adult people have this form of herpes, but I don't think you want to pass it on to your infant. Someone left this good link a while back where a doctor who specialized in STDs will respond to your questions.  He maybe able to tell you if this is indeed a risk. (see attached link)

Hi there,
As a nanny by day and provider by night I also have concerns on this issue.  I have stopped sharing forks with the kids I take care of, as I am a gfe provider and therefore kiss my clients and I would never put the kids at risk.  Kissing your daughter on the forehead (as far as I know) is a relavtively safe activity; they are called Sexually Transmitted Diseases for a reason.  If you have herpes and currently have a cold sore on your mouth, you should not kiss your daughter.

a link about how herpes is transmitted:

HPV: again oral, vaginal or anal SEXUAL contact is the only way to transmit and I certainly hope you will not be engaging in any of the above with your daughter.

I really know nothing about scabies (and hope I never need to learn) except that they are pubic lice and therefore probably not an issue with kissing your daughter's forehead.
