In a predictable sequel to their popular "Dirty Money" feature on prostitution, CNBC will be airing a special on the porn business. According to their website:

CNBC, First in Business Worldwide, takes an unprecedented behind-the-scenes look inside the multibillion pornography business, from the threats to its profitability to exclusive behind-the-scenes interviews with the industry's biggest stars to the one issue that could bring the adult industry to it's knees. CNBC's Melissa Lee reports on "PORN: BUSINESS OF PLEASURE," premiering Wednesday, July 15th at 9PM ET on CNBC.

...why prostitution is deemed illegal while the making of porn movies is not. I am sure this has been discussed in the past, but I can't recall any cogent reasons for this.

Yea, Melissa Lee is hot as are most of CNBC chicks! They do have a nice selection.

There are various threads on this if you do a search over on the legal board or even the porn star board but, to sum it up. The supreme court protects adult films under the constitution as freedom of expression.  An adult film is art. It is acting and sex happens to be part of it.  There are permits, licenses, employment and age verification records on file. Actors are being paid by a production company to appear in the film.  Paid sex between two people obviously is none of those things except for the sex part.

No, you can't stick a camcorder in the room, press record, and call it art...
