Actually, I'm surprised it does not happen more via the BP route of participation in the hobby.  And after incidents like this it makes it hard to criticize local law enforcement for conducting prostitution stings as we, in the hobby community, often do; lamenting that police go tackle serious/real crime.  Well as we can obviously see the seemingly innocent transaction between consenting adults that include ill-intentioned individuals can lead to tragedy.  My condolences to her family.  
   
 It's guaranteed PG County will be getting back to conducting their well known and high profile stings in the near future.  That's why I have long since stopped hobbying in the whole state of MD let alone PG County.  
   
 NOW FOR THE NON-PC OBSERVATION  
   
 Per the particulars reported on this story, there is no mention of robbery or even rape; nor does it mention that the two suspects were involved together other than the one dude was transportation for the other to leave, get away from the scene.  The news account says it was a transaction for prostitution gone bad.  
   
 With that as the backdrop, ladies who practice "bait-and-switch" and "cash-and-dash" are very prevalent on BP.  Hell, my third experience in the hobby, which was double digit years ago, was a cash-and-dash.  The lady came to my hotel location after arranging an outcall and when she got there she took my $300 and then proceeded to inform me that she does not have sex and that we can talk or go out to dinner.  HUH?!?!?  WTF?!?!?  OK, no problem, then return my money since you didn't tell me that upfront.  "No sir, I keep the money, if you don't want to go to dinner or talk I'll be leaving."  And out the door she went with my money.  WTF?!?!?  OK, lesson learned and I've been a member of TER since.  
   
 In addition, on a number of occasions have I met with the lady who was a 10 in the advertising PICs, on ALLLL sources of advertising; BP, EROS, Personal Escort websites, alll of them.  Then when I get to the location the real person is a 5 or less.  HUH?!?!?  WTF?!?!?  "Wow, you're not the lady in the PICs.  Oh well, I'm gone."  OK sir, you owe me at least half the agreed upon donation since we arranged the session.  HUH?!?!?  WTF?!?!?  REALLY?!?!  NOT!!!  And out the door I go.  
   
 So you all see where I'm going with this.  AND NO!! BEFORE ANY IDIOT RESPONDS WITH THAT BAIT AND SWITCH AND CASH AND DASH IS REASON TO DIE.  NO!!! THAT IS NOT WHAT IS BEING  SUGGESTED.  
   
 What I am noting is that ladies who practice these types of tactics should understand that there are those insane, pathological types out there, all-be-it few and far between, who are not going to take kindly to this type of practice and may respond in a very uncivilized manner.  
   
 FROM THE "HORSES MOUTH.....;" SO TO SPEAK.  I have had the opportunity to engage in conversation with several providers giving me a peak behind the curtain to the world of "providing" and on several occasions the ladies have shared that there are ladies who explicitly have as their business model, bait and switch, cash and dash.  Hence, they don't see certain and various types of men for the express and specific reason and purpose that they have a greater probability of not responding to well to being ripped off.  Again, THAT IS NOT WORTH SOMEONES LIFE!  However, ladies who use this type of business model should strongly consider the potential ramifications of such actions.  While this may not be the case in this very unfortunate case it brings to mind my and many other hobbyist experiences when not negotiating in good faith.
