I was going to travel and meet a sexy lady...not anymore because of the shutdown.
Affect any other plans?
So what should I do now?

But for different reasons lol. Let's have some fun warming each other up! I am hosting this weekend at my private NW DC incall or upscale Crystal City hotel. ;)

I was chatting with a few clients this week and plenty of them said a shut down doesn’t impact them due to who they work for or how they were hired.

I hope folks who are out of work are not too badly impacted and that they are also given back pay. Although back pay for furlough days is the precedent, my understanding is that it is still a decision made by Congress.

The only plans of mine that have changed are when I’m going to happy hour - a lot of places are doing extended happy hour deals during the shutdown. I’ll still be available during the week :-)

I wasn't providing during the 2013 shutdown, and am curious what business was like then? More? Less?

I know a lot of my DC clients come into town for meetings with government officials of various stripes, and my locals work for a variety of agencies. But I also know that many of these meetings are with folks up on the Hill (and Congress continues to do its thing) and there's a lot of business with the military or intelligence agencies, which aren't part of the shutdown.

So I could totally see it going either way. Less business because trips are being canceled and government workers are saving money because they're worried about that next paycheck not being issued, or more business because furloughed workers are bored.

Which one was it last time?

not because of money.... but bc some can't get away from their SO bc many would be telecommuting.

Besides that.. not a big deal.

There's enough market and not all all government employees :)

You aren't going because it's a work trip that's being cancelled?
.
If the shutdown stretches on for weeks or months it will have some negative impact I guess.
.
In the meantime, it will be noticeably easier to get around downtown and the DMV in general as long as the shutdown lasts. I'll be more inclined to see a provider in DC (I usually hobby in NoVa).

From the OPM website...
Due to a lapse in appropriations, Federal Government Operations vary by agency. Employees should refer to their home agency for guidance on reporting for duty.

In other words, other than essential functions (military, national security, etc.) the government is closed until funding legislation is passed.

I made plans to meet a sexy traveling lady this afternoon, but was called back to work.  Fortunately, the lady was understanding and we will try to meet when she travels back in a few months.
Thanks ladies for being understanding!
