I know that most anyone who responds to this post will be using an alias, and that is totally cool, as I am not really interested in who this has happened for / to, but more so how many.  

I was talking to a friend of mine who I met this is world of TER, and we were discussing a lady that he had met from the hobby and ended up dating her for a short time. I know that this has also happened with me. I met someone from the hobby and we started dating for a short time.  I also know to 2 or 3 similar occurrences from people I have met here on TER. I really don’t know that many people in this “world”, so it got me wondering. Is this more common place or still a rarity? How many other people have met someone from the hobby and started dating? My other question, has this scenario ever worked out for anyone?

I met and dated a very hot PV girl and (with my recommendation) went into this biz with a great agency and became very popular.  
I actually saw her OTC with approval of the agency (who knew me and appreciated her arrival) as well as dating her for some time.  
The agency was cool with that as I had introduced her in the first place and steered her there  

She's long outta the biz.  
I have seen her occasionally but she's moved away.

...Why must love be exclusive? Let's legalize multiple spouses so wives and mistress are equally entitled to benefits and same for women (though I think it's harder for guys to share a woman in cooperation)

Not something I'm looking for or would welcome. If a provider wanted to get "closer"  I would run the other way posthaste.  

I like the arrangement the way it is. There is NO reason to change it.  

There are many flavors of love and devotion. I like that I can be honest with him about what I do. When I think about having a relationship with a civvie, I really struggle with the notion of how open I could potentially be. I am not sure I could love a man and keep such a big secret from him, but I can't see most men being able to be okay with it, even if I retired, for good. Honesty is so important, and yet, I think so many men in that situation would feel hurt and confused. So, this is not a problem with us. He sees who he wants to see, that is understood. We don't pry into that part of each other's lives.  I feel loved and I hope he does, too. In an odd way, it works! But maybe because of our personalities or where we are in life.

I feel my relationship with him makes me a better provider, in some ways, at least once I moved past the guilt and cultural programming of one man/one woman. For one thing, when you get what you need, it is that much easier to be generous with others. Also it takes a bit of creativity to keep things interesting for 8 years So, I've learned how to have fun with intimacy. And enjoy the moment. Carpe diem, and all that.

Do I dream about having a forever love that is just mine, someone who I can wake up with, and kiss on New Year's Eve? Sure, sometimes. I am a romantic, at heart. I would be lying if I said sometimes it hurts an awful lot. But I have been down the aisle twice. I am happier now with him than when I was married to my husbands. And most of the time, this works. It's hard to imagine life without him in it, but I never take a day with him for granted. Maybe, in a funny way, that is why it works.

After perusing the list of responders, I noticed that there are very few replies from veteran hobbyists.  

You ask "Has this worked out for anyone" and my answer from a hobbyist standpoint is although it is possible but very unlikely in a short term relationship and Hell No for a long term relationship. Yes, there are exceptions but the norm is as stated in the previous sentence.

If you found a cool girl who will give you attention, ass, and won't charge you by the hour/day/act then good for you. Enjoy it while you have it. Romance is a state of mind that comes on very strong then usually mutates into something very ugly like possessiveness, manipulation or even indifference. This is not the place to look for romance and for all intents and purposes romance has no place here anyway. This is a business first and foremost, then again so is the marriage industry also

When's the last time you been to the strip club? Dudes get caught up with strippers everyday. Hell I seen enough boyfriends chilling in the back of the club especially in a small town.  

Personally, I respect the hustle of the providers and precautions they take ...as opposed to a slut working for free and maybe getting some money to get her hair did.

You can only love one parent? What does physicality have to do with love? Ya daddy is boning ya moms....do you want that man out the picture because she may live him more than you, lol?  

It's ego you talking as you equate love of a woman with pleasuring her exclusively. And it's so engrained in culture people make fun of people that are open relationship especially when married. What are we simple animals that can't reason, haha?

one has been married like 10yrs, the other like 7 but they dated before that both in and out of the hobby.  One is long retired from this, the other pops up from time to time when she has time to.  I couldn't do it and I am not sure their relationships are great but many aren't anyway

Noting a previous post on this thread about not seeing any seasoned hobbyist responding, where here goes.

I've been in this "world" since 2001 and before finding TER add two years prior.  

ANY "relationship" beyond the hour, two or more that you contract for is a benefit that you should not expect to last long.  The eight year "relationship" noted above is about the ONLY way it will "work."  She provides and he see's whoever he wants and they don't pry into each others business as it relates to the other booty they get outside of their "relationship."  That sounds like OTC to me.  While I'm sure they have  other "relationship" attributes they experience and enjoy during their past eight years, the bottom line, IMHO is, it's OTC with some other stuff thrown in.  

I've experienced it once and had the opportunity to pursue a "relationship" on two other occasions.  I did not pursue in any form of the two relationship potentials as I saw the potential for too much "Outside the lines" drama to creep in.  With the third we "dated" off and on over several years till she got married and has since had her first child.  The "dating" part always had this odd feel that we both knew would not translate into a long term relationship.

IMHO, there are waaaaay too many hurdles to overcome for a hobbyist/provider relationship to translate into true romance.

We are not talking about strippers here. Stick around a while and maybe you will learn a thing or two about hobbying.
