You will most likely need to use an employer reference.  That's what I would do for you in this case.

Don't panic, I'm not telling your boss about your new hobby!  Simply calling and asking for you, most places don't ask who I am, if they do I simply tell them Renae from Bank of America, or some other such thing. Then they transfer me to you and we are all set.

It's simply a way to make sure your place of work is not in a negative government sector.

the service will verify your employment, then you wont have to repeat it with each new provider.  Of course, not all providers may use a verification service.  Do a message search on the newbie board for P411 or datecheck for more details.

Unless you are really stuck on privacy the employment reference is the way to go. As suggested below verification services are good but not all ladies take them and there is a cost involved. You can always see a few agency ladies to start.
