Tysons for me (eom)

Tysons can be a pain to get too for some, but easier for others depending where they are traveling from. You  have hotels with mostly free parking and the metro is all around.

DC has parking garages all around and at the hotels. Parking can be pricey at hotels. Certain hotels in certain areas you can find street parking.

You will get replies of where guys prefer to go but honestly , from a providers perspective you will do well in Tysons and you will do well in D.C. There is also metro all over DC as well. I use it A LOT.

I choose either area and Arlington depending on hotel rates. That is how I choose.

  Happy New Years

who lives in Northern Virginia, I prefer Tysons. It is much easier to drive to and park. I even recently chose to take a day off of work to see a touring provider in Tysons rather than see the same provider in DC over the weekend. One of my better reasons to take off from work.

my Tysons requests are generally an hour or 90 mins and Dupont/downtown are always longer, more proximity to great restaurants and such. Depends on your offering and your guys. I think I've commented it various times in different threads, but I generally hate Tysons so I'm biased. I'd choose Alexandria or Crystal City over Tysons if doing VA.

Downtown DC. Since I don't have a car, it's easier for me to metro to downtown DC than it is to Tyson's.

Being from above Baltimore, I prefer Northern Virginia.  I don't care for driving in DC, so by the time I drive to a Metro station, park, and then walk to the incall, it can be a 3 to 4 hour experience (both ways).  Traffic to NOVA can be dicey, but I find if I schedule late morning to early afternoon, it works out well.  Plus, no issues with parking.  I have pretty-much stopped my visits to DC accordingly.  I hope this helps.

Personally, there are markets here that I always ignore & the providers that are in them. Tyson’s Corner is one of them. I have no desire to commute for all eternity to see any provider. I live in N.W. DC. So, I’m gonna stick to what I know best, & the locales that are the most convenient for me. Downtown DC, downtown Silver Spring & the home-field advantage of my bed. I know nothing about Tyson’s Corner. Therefore, I can’t intelligently speak on it. What I can intelligently speak on; I have never set foot in it, don’t have any desire to set foot in it & will never set foot in it. The District is KING around these parts.

I've used both often.  Each can work, but:
- rush hour traffic around Tyson's is a nightmare
- you can't walk in Tyson's
- hotel rates vary day to day
- much closer to Dulles
- Client base is militarily, technical

DC usually more upscale and a little more expensive
- cars don't work well in some parts of DC
- much more to see and do on breaks
- much closer to Reagan, train station
- client base is professional, connected

Of course these are generalizations.  Some ladies do a couple of days in each, since there are many clients who won't visit one or the other

Santa 96 has it right.  Pros and cons to both but there are plenty of folks who won't go to the other.  I live in Crystal City and rarely go to DC to hobby.  Providers who visit old town or Crystal City get my first priority, Tyson's next and DC almost never.  Too hard to park, I always get lost and traffic is unpredictable.  Interesting insight on the type of client in each location.

I hobby both in Tyson's and DC (DuPont Circle).

To answer the question, I find Tyson's the most convenient.  1) In general free and easy parking 2) Bigger lobby versus small boutique hotels with security, doormen, or snoopy front desk staff and less likely to get stuck in traffic (Use the paid hot lanes to get back to where I need and avoid traffic). 3)  Cheaper and easier travel to-and-from.  I don't have to pay for a taxi or Uber to get there, and its super convenient if you're driving.  DC is a major pain-in-the ass to drive into, Gawd forbid you're in the city after 3:00 p.m. because getting out will be a nightmare, my blood pressure goes sky high dealing with DC traffic and Type A personalities.  Its amazing how places so close can be so different.

Majority of providers working in Northern Virginia do Tyson's.  It seems more would be in Crystal City, but I don't think there is the really large client base (bumped up against Maryland/Potomac River and DC to the south, and lack of free and easy parking).

I will do DuPont/DC if I'm downtown for work.  I'm already there, easy to UBER/Taxi it to the appointment, and in general I like the boutique hotels for ambience and something different than a chain hotel.

Bottom line is you'll find responses, positive and negative, based on convenience and travel time/ cost for the client.  I don't have to wait for a metro, pay for the metro, or ride with other people on the metro to or from the meeting.  I'm nice and relaxed after my session, the last thing I want to do is get to the metro, wait for a train - or worse just miss my train -  and deal with it, and the people on it.  For example, "Yes, you Miss, take your fucking bags off the seat next to you so I can sit down."  My blood pressure is already up.

You'll make money either way if you're a quality provider.

I'd be interested to know if there are more no-shows or late appointments with one location over the other.
