Not sure how you are looking at the stats for the virus but NoVA is actually doing a lot better than VA as a whole now, and has been.  If you have not looked here before http://www.vdh.virginia.gov/coronavirus/ has some good stats/trend and provides a county and city breakdown.

I just returned from A week in that area!  Unfortunately, I have obligations at home, and could not stay longer!
