“ Can you lay your life down, so a stranger can live? Can you take what you need, but take less than you give?
Could you close everyday, without the glory and fame?
Could you hold your head high, when no one knows your name?
That is how legends are made, least that’s what they say.
We say good bye, but never let go. We live we die cause you can’t save every soul. Gotta take every chance to show that you’re the kind of man/woman who; will never look back, never look down and never let go!
Can you lose everything, you ever had planned? Can you sit down and play another hand? Could you risk everything for the chance of being alone? Under pressure find the grace, or would you come undone?
That’s how legends are made, least that’s what they say.
We say good bye, but never let go. We live we cause you can’t save every soul. Gotta take every chance to show that you’re the kind of man/woman who; will never look back, never look down and never let go!

Thank you for those who have served and thank you to those who continue to serve. You are a real life true hero.

Ms. Katy Shaw

it never gets old when the citizens recognize the service we hvae given to our country.  Many of us (like me--drafted in 1966) didn't necessarily set out on the military as a career path, but we all ended up being in a position to give of ourselves to help defend our country.  Though long ago, I still think those were some of the finest moments of my life.  I was part of a large group of citizen-soldiers that gave of themselves so that the country we all loved could be safe.  I have always appreciated the folks that recognize that through big and small gestures, from the USO folks giving out sandwiches at O''Hare & Midway airports to the folks that simply say 'Thank you for your service' when they learn I am a veteran.  My view is that we're all the same, some of us were called to serve and most did so honorably, others were not but eventually came to appreciate what we did.  I am proud of my service without believing that anyoe owes me anything because of it, but I am very grateful when I receive the honest & heartfelt thanks of the folks I did it for.  Happy Veterans' Day to all!

I lost 5 friends over two tours to Iraq, and every Veteran's Day I grab a girl on their behalf and drink a toast on their behalf.  It's tough work, but someone's gotta do it.
