Come by my place…I live in Downtown DC….I have a nice one-bedroom apartment….I’m single and I live all by myself…patio with a nice view of the Washington Monument(Obelisk)….hehe…anyway….getting back to the subject at hand, here are some options...

1. The Old Ebbitt Grill (675 15th Street NW) (for a typical Washington experience)
www.ebbitt.com
2. L’Auberge Chez Francois (332 Springvale Road in Great Falls, Virginia) (for good country French in the country) (Might be a little out of the way though)
www.laubergechezfrancois.com
3. Acadiana (901 New York Avenue NW) (for excellent Louisiana cuisine)
www.acadianarestaurant.com
4. Citronelle Restaurant (3000 M Street NW in the Latham Hotel) (for the whole shebang)
www.citronelledc.com
5. 1789 Restaurant (1226 36th Street NW near Prospect Street) (for a classic old Georgetown experience)
http://www.1789restaurant.com/main/index.shtml

The following also deserve a VERY honorable mention…

*Fogo De Chao/Fogo De Chau Churrascaria (1101 Pennsylvania Avenue NW #1) (good Brazilian restaurant that serves unlimited meat)
www.fogodechao.com

*Bodega (3116 M Street NW in Georgetown) (for good food from Spain)
www.bodegadc.com

*Bistro Francais (3124 M Street NW in Georgetown) (for good European/French)
www.bistrofrancaisdc.com

*La Perla Ristorante (2600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW #101) (for good Italian)
www.laperlaofwashington.com

*Vapiano (623-625 H Street NW in Chinatown) (for good European/Italian)
www.vapiano.com

Hope this helps :-)

I am visiting the Downtown DC area, and don't really know the area.

I am getting tired of eating at the places that are close by, and am really looking for something different.

Could anyone recommend a good, trendy, upscale, fun restaurant to try?  I am feeling a little adventurous today!  :-)

Anyone have a favorite that could fit my needs?

XOXO

I was at the roof top bars a couple of weeks ago for an after party event. Young, gorgeous ladies, trendy, dressed to impress and social crowd, and also multi cultural. I think you would fit right in. I didn't have dinner there but I'm sure the restaurant is also very nice. Good luck in finding a place right for you.

You'd be more than welcome to drop by my house for dinner....not sure how we would explain it to Mrs STP , but I'll think of something.  Another option is Scion on P Street . Casual but cool. Friendly staff...interesting menu and good wines. Ya gotta try the fried pickles.  I've taken several of my faves there and they always have a good time.   There is a good Tapas restaurant downtown that is always a fun place. Can not remember it's name or location but it is about a block away from the Verison Center.    Sorry I'm not available totreat you as I still owe ya one !!   Enjoy your stay...we'll fix the weather tomorrow.

there only a handful of places rated 25 or over.   lock30 mentioned most of them in his post.  my favorite is the City Zen in the Mandarrin Oriental Hotel.  definitely a 5 star european dining experience.

There used to be an Oceanair in PHL.  The seafood was great!
