Washington DC

So just what WAS the process?

Just a heads up to the guys and girls out there. Washington DC is on high alert status and apparently one of the "targets" are large hotels and apartment complexes in DC and NYC. I had an extended lunch appointment with a visiting young lady and security was extremely tight. No access to rooms unless you had a picture ID and room key. Luckily the girls at Belle De jour were on the ball and called to give me the heads up. Not knowing the "real" name the room is under is not a great thing to do when entering or waiting in the lobby of these hotels. Have a story ready when entering...these weren't your average rent-a-cops...lots of suits, guns and ear phones.

BTW I made it through the screening process (no cavity search)and spent an amazing afternoon with this young lady..I may have been sitting on ground zero, but I can't think of a better way to go.

I don't know if smaller hotels are experiencing the same issue, but just wanted to give a heads up to everyone.

Just what did you have to go through?  You had to know the real name of the provider?  If you would be so kind, step us through just what it was you went through.

I had this happen to me when Megan of NC was in DC about a year ago at the JC Marriott.  Security made me give the name the room was under, which she had given me in a phone call just before I was to come up.

I can see this being a big problem to some providers.  Not every lady is going to want to give out her real name to everyone who visits.

It may be a good idea to start a list of hotels and what they are requiring now.

Agree that it would be a good idea to keep some background info on current security practices and perhaps we will be able to give heads-up to inquiring visitors.

On the other hand it may be just another nod in favor of our outstanding local staff!

last visit - within two weeks

20th and P
parking:  easy to find onstreet and parking garages nearby
rate: cheap on expedia.com
stuff closeby:  cafes, restaurants, CVS, clubs
staff:  doesn't care - you walk right into lobby and have to go by front desk but there is no glance and no check, very friendly atmosphere in this regard, relatively high traffic lobby.  A great many visiting ladies stay here.
room:  I personally find them a bit long in the tooth.  Showing some age and wear and tear.  But probably acceptable for any but the lady trying to make a really special presentation.
