Keep in mind that out of the remaining agencies in the area, they're probably the only one taking new people, and they may not even be doing that at the moment because of what happened with the recently defunct one.
First thing is to be sure you're providing them the info they request for screening. If you don't they will ignore you. Second, if you're providing non Asian references that might not be high on their priority list. If you have not seen some indie Asian providers that might be advisable.
Keep the 3 Ps in mind: Patience, Polite, Persistence. So if you're interested in getting in keep trying periodically but don't just pester them. If they've not responded now move on to some other option and give a try next week or perhaps next month.
Or start with a different Asian agency and then come back when you can use the other agency as a reference. In a given metro area, the people (usually Asian women too) tend to know each other at least by reputation and phone.
I asked a simple screening related question which I at least expected an answer to. If I get no response I hesitate to provide a lot of information about myself.
