I'm usually the sort who plans weeks if not months in advance for my hobby-related experiences, so I'm not familiar with the etiquette of last-minute appointments.

Today, thanks to an ornery visiting father-in-law, I found myself out and about with no place to go and no mission other than to not go home. So I thought to myself, "This would be the perfect time to hobby." But then I thought, how on earth do you call up a lady and say, "I'd like to see you today"? Is that even done?

Normally, I have to jump through hoops with two references to a lady before she would even deign to meet with me.  Well my S.O. decided to work at the last moment. I had been tracking this West Coast lady who is visiting our fair city.  So I decided to take a chance and just called her phone. Left a message and got a call back in about half hour.  We talked for a few brief minutes.  I acted as a gentleman, never  spoke explicitly in asking about getting a date with her, and discreetly asked about the donation.  The result was that I got to see her an hour later.  It was a great session.  So I am living proof it does happen.

I have a list of ladies I can call at the last minute and they will fit me in..On my speed dial for that special moment..lol Done all the time Lex.

. . . even on a weekend. It works for agencies. Sometimes they'd be ready for me in 30-45 minutes but that's not sufficient time for me to get ready.

I don’t mind sharing a few suggestions, which may prove helpful. Anything for the sake of sparing sexual frustration!
Agencies are prepared for last minute appointments. Independents are sometimes another story…

If you want to see someone whom you are familiar with simply call her (or contact her via her preferred method of contact). Either she’s available or not, simple as that. Big Daddy hit the nail on the head! LOL!

If you want to add a new provider to your portfolio, I’d suggest you be crystal clear on her screening process before contacting her. Be forth coming with the appropriate screening information and leave adequate time for her to process the requested information.
Experience had taught me that it’s better to prescreen and have the freedom to be spontaneous (days, weeks or even months later) than to attempt an 11th hour save. Nothing more frustrating than to have your libido awakened and not have that final touch!

There’s nothing wrong with last minute appointments although most ladies (such as myself) PREFER advanced bookings.

Again, last minute appointments with indipendents can be tricky because while some schedules are flexible, others are not. The key is making contact as soon as you’ve made it up in your mind you want to make an appointment. Most providers will attempt to be as accommodating as they can.

For me...last minute doesn't work!
With my schedule, I find that a time slot is very important...Usually, appointment made (48-72 hours before) need to be confirmed...OK.
But I have it locke into my schedule...no-one trying to find me, page me etc.
Having said that...I have a "short list" on my speed dial...fuck queens that are available on a "minutes notice" for me...with some extra $$$. You'd be suprised who they are...all Indys.

How does one get to be "the right guy"?

It can be done, but you may very well strike out, too.  Prescreening is important, and you'll need some luck to make sure that you can meet up with someone close enough to see in the time available.

As to the etiquette... I'd say something like, "My schedule has unexpectedly opened up, and I thought this would be the perfect chance to see you again/finally book a session with you."  She may say yes, or she may say no; don't take it personally if she can't do it.  Agencies are probably your best bet, followed by checking out the various boards.  I don't know of any reputable place locally where you can pop in and get a session with the ladies on staff, but that has worked for me in other cities.  (There may be such places around, and I just don't know about them; I don't stay on top of the house/MP scene here.)

Logistical issues may jump up on you; incall vs. outcall becomes much more important, as does travel time and location.  Once you factor in time to search and contact, travel time, appointment time, and cleanup, you have a pretty good chunk of time you've committed to this.  I don't find it worthwhile to bother unless I have three hours available, and that's still cutting it a little close.

Because of my unpredictable work and marital schedules, my appointments are almost all last minute appointments.  Some say agencies are your best bet, but that is not always the case.  The only advance appointment I made in the past two years was with TGND to see Dara because they are so popular that last minute appointments are impossible to get with them.  The most accomodating is an independent I have seen a number of times.  Trying to get a last minute appointment can be a frustrating ordeal - it just depends if the stars all lined up correctly.  I guess that's why God invented massage parlors: no appointment necessary, you may just be asked to come back in a half hour.  Good luck in your future endeavors Mr. Luethor.
