Hello Alexa,

I strongly recommend Dupont Circle as your base.  It is Metro-accessible, geographically central and thus available to gents from VA and MD as well as DC, and has lots of great restaurants and cafes.  There are some great boutique hotels there -- Hotel Palomar, Hotel Dupont, and Hotel Madera are all excellent choices.  Finally, for food, I highly recommend Pizzeria Paradisio, Circa, and Sushi Taro ...

Would love to make an appt with you!

to consider are the Churchill and the Topaz, there's also a recently renovated Courtyard on Connecticut Ave., plus a Hilton Embassy Row & a Westin Embassy Row if you're into bigger chains.  The Hilton Washington & Towers has become a key-card elevator property so not such a good idea unless you want to go down and meet your guests! :-)  Other restaurant choices in the area include Vidalia, Restaurant Nora (President Obama took Michelle here on their wedding anniversary) and Bistro Bistro.  Hope you decide to make the visit.
