A) Cancelling once is understandable. Two or three times in a week is not. Clearly this hobbyist's life is too chaotic to set appointments, and as she points out, it eats up time slots that other guys could have taken.

B) 10 minutes notice is the same deal: one time is an unfortunate exception, but multiple times shows a pattern of behavior. Unless you live right around the corner from the hotel, you're not getting anywhere in the DC/NoVA area in that short of a timeframe. I'd bet he knew earlier. I could understand being caught off-guard once on the way to the appointment, but multiple times?

C) Reverse the situation, and a provider cancels on you 3 times in one week. You've tried to accommodate the situation by rearranging work, ducking your SO (if applicable), and taking the time to drive out to the location, just to find out 10 minutes prior that she can't make it. Would you be so understanding?

D) No one is getting publicly outed, she made the offer for other girls to contact her for the info. The review process is not a one-way street my friend, we can call out providers for being flakes when they don't keep appointments, but the same applies to hobbyists. If the girl thinks this guy is a potential time-waster, she can check in for his info; if it's not a big deal, they don't bother. TER is about establishing a reputation, and this guy just tarnished his.

Last but not least, it's a bit suspicious that you're immediately jumping to the defense of this nameless guy, and posting as an alias. Got something to hide? I'm not trying to WK, in fact I put part of the blame on the provider. As the old saying goes "fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me". It shouldn't have gotten to a 3rd time. But she's well in her right to share her experience with other providers. After all, that's exactly what we do to them.

twice. If his reasons was invalid, then I agree with you to blacklist him. Some clients will not give a provider a courteous call to cancel an appointment. With your case, he gave you two [I assumed he made two appointments with you?] courteous cancellations calls. Whatever his motives were, he notified you that he will not make it.

Since he notified you, was his reasons valid? I'll progress base on your reply. Take care.

Hi Rebeccka,

I am sorry that this happened to you love.

I have a related question, for you, for the ladies of the board.  I have cancelled two appointments in my life.  Both with same provider and both within a month of each other.  I gave a little over 24 hours notice first time, a little under (like 22 hours) the 2nd time.  I am hard on myself to begin with when it comes to shit like this and it doesn't help that she is majorly pissed at me.  The reasons if they matter were both family related, my young teen got sick the 1st time and my elementary-aged kid was scheduled off of school for teacher in-service the 2nd time, and I brain-farted on his schedule.  Wife had meetings that day, so I had to stay home with him.

Trust me, when one of us guys has a date set with one of you ladies the last thing we want to do is deny ourselves some good lovin'.

Question is - 24 hours is cool or are you pissed on 24 hours notice?  Do you expect compensation at 24 hours notice?  Partial compensation?  No?  What is the norm?

Thanks for any replies.

I'm starting to feel the effects of the last minute cancellations as well...

I just don't understand why would they try to make an appointment if they aren't 100% sure they can keep it?

Sorry this happend to you but sadly , you can read similiar stories all over the place.

There are jerks everywhere. The only thing to do is stay as far away from them as possible. They will find ways to complicate and screw up your day and life. They come in all shapes sizes and colors.

Do your peers a favor and out this moron..then move on to more productive and positive activities. Oh you will feel so much better too!

I understand this screws with your livelihood and do feel for you with this one person canceling twice on you.  There is always two sides to every situation, you have expressed your perception and doubt we will read his.   In life as everyone knows, shit happens.   Dealing with DC traffic has made me late, sometimes real late for a session even causing me to re-schedule.  In all honesty I had to cancel once within 20 minutes of an appointment because of a work issue that came up.  I called, cancelled and explained that obviously work came first.  She wasn't happy but also told me not to call her again.  My point is to out this guy wouldn't be right.  You can refuse to see him again but to screw with his ability to provide others with income isn't right.   I know this won't be a popular with most of the providers on this board, but would appreciate respecting my opinion just as I have respected yours.

Her email appear to suggest that both appointments were cancelled with only 10 minutes notice and that is a strange coincidence.

i understand he informed me but it was withing 10 mins of his 3 appointments.
cancelling appointments should be done 24 hrs in advance or 2-3 hours BEFORE appointment so the lady can have enough time to fix up someone for that slot. due to his inability to contact me sooner i lost out on 3 potential clients with references.

dont assume, i posted DETAILS on my previous post.
he cancelled 10 mins before appointed time.
he also did not give me a valid reason other wise i wouldnt be ass pissed.
im a reasonable provider with no bad habits so its not like my mentality is impaired by drugs or alcohol and i just rant.
im a highly reviewed and respected lady, ive worked hard to keep myself professional and he totally belittled that.

i know we are just" hookers" but we deserved just as much respect from the men.
we  all do have personal lives and even jobs.
so our time should be respected like we respect yalls.

lets say the tables were turned and *i* was the one who called and cancelled he would post it on the boards and everyone would rip me a new one! smh...

what if a provider had blemishes and sores all over her legs, and claimed they weren't from a disease, swear to god no, but rather from a heavy S&M session with a guy who liked hot needles....

but her ad shows smooth perfect skin?

would that count as maybe a dishonest waste of someone's time or money, hmmm?

i would be happy with a 24 hrs notice,
i think thats pretty reasonable
if she's upset buy her a toy and make it up to her ;) lol
most providers have different ettiquettes and when someone makes an appt they should really read up on their guidelines so both parties are satisfied

I wanted more information about how the screne unfolded and you've explained that well in your follow-up reply. You were more than curteous when you gave him three chances. Some providers give second chances, but a third chance within a week and with the same scenerio is more than professional on your part.

I do see the benefit of your original post because his reasons was invalid and injustifiable. You made this thread which will benefit other providers by avoiding him. He was a flake and in your words, a "time-waster". The reason for my original reply was to get more information about the scenerio. You provided that information efficiently in your second reply.

If there are any useful advice I can give you is to not give a hobbyist a third chance within a short period of time if their reasons are invalid and injusitfiable. When I cancel an appointment, I make sure I give the provider at least one hour [three hours is more efficient in my opinion] before the schedule time and emphasize to the provider of my valid reasons for canceling the appointment. Like any other business, there is a level of professionalism that I must maintain. For example, if my doctors appointment was at 3:00 PM and I could not make it, then I will have to call the doctors office at noon to give them my reason. Some business have fines and other penalties for neglecting an appointment.

Sometimes you have to post these kinds of threads because it does benefit other providers even if it looks dramatic.

.......the 10 minute notice facet.  There is just no excuse for that, it leaves you no options for making productive use of that time.

I maintain that a hobbyist giving something like 24 hours notice is just "people have lives and shit happens", we have jobs, wives, kids and stuff pops up.  I don't know where the cutoff for remediation lies, I guess that is an individual determination, but this guy should have paid you for all three sessions given the ten minute bull shit.

The fact that you offered his info to providers who PM you rather than putting him on blast showed class and professionalism, that was well played Rebecca.  Give yourself a pat on the back.

virtually every other location in DC would require a rational person to allow 60 minutes travel time, so he should have texted her earlier when he did not leave work/home on time and let her know, see if she could accomadate a late arrival, and if not let her know sooner.  If somehting has arisen and I need to cancel or will be late, I usually know well in advance unless its traffic, and then its easy to call from the car (or text from the metro/cab) and let her know.

Don't bother scheduling appointments in advance. Take out the smart phone when you get to car and find a bp provider that is available. You take the risk that you will be double booked sometimes and/or the provider will not be available.
