yep and linux as the operating system.

for the last 2 days when I do a google search it would come back with the listings then when I click on the or a specific site/listing I want to go I get redirected to some advertising site.

This only started happening the last 2 days.  Does my puter have a virus and the search engine has been hijacked?  It does not do it for all search results but it does it for most.

How can/do I stop this??

Run a anti virus on your PC and see if finds anything, mine didn't find anything.

This has happened to me with Google Image search's, maybe the someone has figured out how to make a it work their advantage.

by a Trojan. I had to use BING and found this thing called TDSKILLER on one website.

I downloaded and installed it to remove the Trojan.  But here is the catch. The moment you reconnect to the Internet, you  will catch that Trojan again. So in order to prevent that you should have Norton or McFee alive and updated to the most recent version, so the AntiVirus software can catch the Trojan before it affects you again.

Most likely, currently you don't have any AntiVirus. Is that correct?

This is a very sticky infection and hard to get rid. I was struggling with it for 2 days before I found the patch on the website.

I suggest full scans with MS SE followed by a full scan using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, and followed by a scan with TDSSKiller.  All of these tools are free downloads.  Some anti-virus tools can flag something that another misses, so it's a good idea to run full scans with more than one tool, although not simultaneously.

Another nice tool to have (especially with this hobby) is CCleaner.  It's not anti-virus, but can clean registry problems and also does nice things like erasing browser history and securely wiping free disk space (keeps deleted history and files from coming back to haunt you later via forensics).

Lastly, only download these tools from the source company or a trusted source, such as CNet or sourceforge.

My system was so slow during this time that I could not even download anything. I used family member's computer to download the patch and then transferred it using FLASH drive.

Were you using Chrome? I hope you aren't surfing with IE 7 or older!
