for changing my username. It was 4EverAllupato for the last few years. I know that every post, etc. changes to my new username automatically but will I have to notify my ATFs and others that it has changed or will they know by some other means? Or do I have to notify them?
Confused, like all Red Sox fans are this year. LOL

Thanks

Yes.. I am too young to have seen the old Senators... LOL

The change that you described takes like 2 secs... You might want to really thank TER when they start being fair again... To both guys and gals... ...LMAO

amused that the Red Sox (who I actually like lot) have a chance for a never before achievement.  They can become the first team to go from last place one season to World Series Champions next season & back to last place the following season!  Not the kind of record you would want, but at least there's a championship buried in there!

FL Marlins Won World Series in 1997 and went from one of the best teams (Braves still beat them in regular season, but Marlins won the WS) to one of the worst teams in 1998.

Livan Hernandez who was ex Expo and Nat was one of the prime pitchers in Florida's success.  Hernandez has the honor for throwing the first pitch for Nats @ RFK.

Loved the pick up of Cespedes. If they can hang on to him. But they got zero pitching for next year. Or as Elvis Costello once famously titled an LP, 'Less Than Zero.

And they can still beat the Yankees - without Cespedes

I wouldn't hold my breath. And one man does not make a rotation. Whatever happened to that Japanese 'ace' they had a few years back?

Daisuke Matsuzaka is with the Mets. Started him as a reliever and now is a starter. Wasn't it like 50 Mil. just to talk to him before the Sox offered him a contract? Lost a lot of $$ on that one.

fond of importing players from NBL (Nippon Baseball League) to US. A lot of money is lost for sure. And the real beneficiaries is the league in the deal. Its great if it works out like Ichiro Suzuki, Yu Darvish or Mashahiro Tanaka. But if it ends up being a bust or just so-so player, then lot of money is lost already and can't be recouped.

I am surprised that they didn't trade anyone by 7/31. Not that the trades can't still happen, but they are lot easier when done before 7/31 as one doesn't have to go through the revokable waiver process.

What are they thinking? They can still make it to the playoffs...LOL.. Phillies had great chance to stack up their farm system when they went on the amazing run 2000-2011 winning 9 NL East titles, 1 WS out of 2 WS appearances. But they failed to do so.

Ya that's him. One or two great years then crash and burn.

You're right. They seem to have adopted the Yankee's strategy (identifying with their captors I suppose) and are now paying the price for having a bloated payroll. Still, some of the old warhorses are doing ok this year - Utley, Papplebon, even Rollins could help a young team making a run (like Seattle or KC)

And CW, watch out for those Mets next year - their pitching is beginning to look legit.

Senators vs. the St. Louis Browns the year before they moved to Baltimore!  And BTW, the Senators did NOT get any consideration from the Orioles, which is why I think MLB should have just told Peter Angelos to stuff it!

I believe I came across a stat where Zach Britton--(the diamond in the rough closer for the Orioles)--hasn't given up a single earned run at Camden Yards ALL SEASON!! THAT is a pretty remarkable stat--ESPECIALLY in that park!! (If the O's had him last year performing this well they would have at the very least been in contention for the WC game!!)

Although if Chris Davis put up the kind of numbers he's got this year back in 2013 (as opposed to the mnostrous year he had--which is starting to look like a one time fluke) the O's might not have crossed the .500 mark!!

Nothing like the unpredictability of the grand ol' game!!

I am surprised that they aren't talking more about him. He hasn't received as many SVO as some of the other players like Rosenthal and Kimbrel, but he will definitely end up with around 35 saves this year in regular season...

I would love to see Battle of the Beltway WS. It would be epic..

Tommy Hunter began the season as the Orioles closer--he had the job until around early May when they decided to go with Britton. (Hunter had blown a couple of saves and was also battling an injury hence the switch in closers). If Zach had been the 9th inning guy from Opening Day he might very well be in Kimbrel territory for saves!!

And a Beltway series would be awesome!! (However, I don't know how interested the rest of the country would be in this potential match-up---bet the suits at Fox Sports wouldn't want this scenario LOL!!)

Well, if Bobby Parnell comes back things will be better.  Of course, then someone else will get hurt... which I suppose is why they will always be the Mets.

Britton has been the one closing in the SVO for handful of O's games that I saw. But I like him far better than Jim Johnson who blew a bunch last year..

Believe it or not Oakland recently released Jim Johnson---he was designated for assignment and any team can pick him up. (He has to clear waivers first which he most certainly will!!) Oakland is stuck with his $10 million dollar salary---any team that signs him will pay the MLB minimum and Oakland eats that albatross contract!!

Two years ago he was a lock-down closer---now he might be finished!!

Baseball is an UNFORGIVING sport---here today--gone tomorrow!!

Back in 2012 we used to have a closer by the name of Henry Rodriguez. This kid had Aroldis Chapman like speed, but I can bet you I could locate the ball better blindfolded than he ever could. He was the master of wild pitches. He blew probably good 4-5 saves in matter of 10 days or so.  Davey gave him as much chance as possible.  He was finally assigned to minor league, then traded to Cubs. He is with the Marlins now.

I am sure Jim Johnson will be able to find some team to call his home.  Bullpen pitchers can take variety of roles.

I remember him briefly with the Nats---know he's bounced around a bit---never knew he had THAT kind of arm--(comparing him to Chapman got my attention for sure!!)

You're right about Jim Johnson---some team will take a flyer on him and I bet whoever picks him up and gives him a chance to straighten himself out in the minors might very well get themselves a decent setup guy at a bargain basement price!!

He regularly hit triple digits. I saw him hit 102 MPH. That's why Davey kept him around for a few years.

The Marlins released him in June and the White Sox picked him up and placed him in Triple A.  He walked 8 in two innings and was then released.

Watching a pitcher with electrifying stuff who can't get the ball over the plate!!

About 7-10 years ago the Orioles had this kid named Daniel Cabrera----this guy could throw a baseball through a brick-wall!! He also had triple digit velocity but could not ever harness his control--lasted about 5 seasons and that was it. (And the only reason he survived that long was that the Orioles were giving him every possible chance to somehow "figure it out" and develop consistency---sadly it never happened!!)

As a fan seeing a pitcher with a cannon arm that can't throw strikes is very frustrating---I can only imagine what it must be like for the manager/GM of a team who has a pitcher in this category!! You want to give him every chance to succeed but at the same time he hurts your pitching staff with wildness and bloated pitch-counts---a truly tough dilemma!!)
