I was thinking about getting one...not sure if its worth it yet...they have been out a while and was hoping they were now more quality then what they were ....

I bought it earlier this year. It's a Panasonic Plasma 50". The reason I bought it was because it was the best 2-D TV in the world and then I had the 3-D whenever I wanted to dive in. I haven't played with the 3-D side, but love the TV.

the ones with lcd shutter glasses are the most crisp imho.
the ones that use the same glasses from theaters have slight ghosting.

quality is great, saw avatar with my buddies the other day and they all think it's the same as the theater.
minus the screen size.

I would wait untill more broadcast companies invest in it. I would get a good LCD TV.  
Or at least wait. Many of the 3D TVs a of few months ago and even now are still in their beta stages.  Us I have done alot of research on it and many think it will become a fad. So if it sticks around I would wait untill it's come farther along. Many companies have pushed them out to profit, but I would wait untill more stations support it through broadcasting companies.  The 3DS has been a flip so far which could be a good indicator.

 If you are interested in the 3D TV for gaming,  I would invest in a good LCD TV with good display.

I could go on about what I've read and researched so feel free to PM me if you like! I personally love watching movies, and playing games(PS3 gamer here). I play and watch on a 101 inch screen and it's awesome. It's VERY clear and it's complete with surround sound set up the right way for the movie theater experience.  So many times I have walked into people houses, clients' for example and they are so proud of their surround sound, and I have to tell them it's totally wrong. Lol there have been two posters here on the board that had mr set up THEIR surround sound for them! Some look at me like there is NO way I know what i'm talking about but I definitely do.

what about the 3d tvs for dvds? Alot of movies are now being sold in 3d for 3d tvs...look on amazon--->
I wasn't even thinking about the regular programs to be honest....just so many new 3d movies now.
But your right, I usually make it a rule to wait after something comes out (I did not listen to myself with the ipad 1...and not too long after the ipad 2 came out...who can keep up with apple anyway??)

One requires glasses the other doesn't. What's the main reason you are looking into this? Are you into gaming.? I know that people do complain about getting headches and having to stop and take a break after like 30mins.

I need glasses and haven't paid to buy yet because the lack of 3-D content. I know that lots of DVDs are in 3D and look amazing on this TV, but I don't watch a lot of DVDs. You also need a 3-D Blu Ray system. I have a regular Blu Ray. Kinda sucks.

the 3d quality is excellent... but it uses lcd shutter glasses. this is the kind of stuff that some people are not used to. bottom line is, if you don't get a headache after staring into the computer screen several hours a day, chances are lcd shutter glasses will be ok for a 2 hour movie.  just turn off all florescent light sources nearby, unless u got a flicker-free florescent lamp

they have a lot of content but you have to hook up your computer to the TV using an HDMI cable (not the vga port). I haven't tried surfing the internet within the TV but I'm sure there is a way using that method too.

I know that certain channels like ESPN is also avaialble in 3D.

what about the 3 d movies that are available now? Forget the programming...the movies on blue ray?

Gambler seems like the nicer mod though.

Opinions vary though cuz some mods think that GD board is trashy and full of vulgarity... which is in a way true cuz the language there is harsher than this board thanks to mp/nick and the rest of the foul language crew. lol
