The more reputable and well-known a lady is the less chance she'd try any shenanigans.
My feeling is that if a lady has not much of an online presence, isn't on P411, advertises on bedpage, etc. I doubt I'd risk it. For a well-known, reputable lady who's active on social media, lots of great reviews, etc I would consider it.
As a hobbyist, I've always treated this as a redline that I won't cross. I see it as a lot of long-term risk for my personal and professional life vs. a short term reward of getting to see a provider I'm interested in meeting. However, maybe I'm just unlucky, it's something that I've been asked for several times recently when trying to meet someone new. Is this becoming more of a common thing?
From the provider side, I get why you ask for it but also isn't that also why references exist?

I don't provide my photo ID through email or text even though I have nothing to lose today, but might in the future.
I did provide the ID a couple of times in the room to a couple of new agencies so the girl can match my name to P411 ID. They mentioned it upfront so no problem for me.
Had the girl took my ID to the outside of my presence, it would be a big NO. P411 works well for me with 99.99% same-date screening without any hassles.
References only go so far. You could have been amazing for provider 1 and completely BSC for provider 2, now I don't know who I just saw cause provider 1 didn't require real world information. How does that help me?
There are many providers who accept references only or p411 only or TER whitelists only, see them. I don't know any providers in my personal circle that will see a client who wants to remain anonymous, but there are many out there.
Ever Many if not the vast majority of great ladies don't require it and many ladies drop the requirement when asked. It depends on how good their business is.
Every provider has the right to require whatever info she deems necessary and as hobbyists we can choose to see said provider or not, based on her requirements. Just wanted to get that out there up front. BUT, it always makes me chuckle when I hear a hooker saying she needs something for HER safety. What about our safety? There's a thread right now on the general board about a gentleman that's being extorted by a provider who has already outed at least one other provider to her employer and family. No way in hell I'd every give up any personal information to a lady, if she wont take my P411, whitelists or other references I'll pass on seeing her. There's no reason with all of the references and okays I have that I would need to also provide personal info.
I don't send my photo ID or any other personal identifying information, including selfies, to providers. I understand their desire for safety, but that works both ways. Besides, what if my ID or info falls into the wrong hands, especially those of our least favorite uncle? Even if no charges are ever filed, the publicity alone could be enough to kill careers or marriages. I'm not currently married, but I'm in a line of work where such disclosures could be harmful.
From following many SWers on Twitter I know it's more common for ladies now to not take references and only work with real-world info. I know some women that I started off seeing 4 years ago (who were satisfied with P411 at the time) will only screen with real-world info.
I have yet to run into any ladies who require it and I've had very good luck with easy screening because I'm a P411 member with many okays. I would have to think long and hard before I handed over my info.
