Any thoughts on the murder reported Washington post of the attorney found stabbed to death in a hotel near Thomas circle.  He lived only a short distance away - sounds like he had some type rendeveous - with a provider, a craigs list connection or something else - be careful out there.

A few years ago in broad daylight a guy was murdered walking down the street near DuPont Circle. Not sure if anyone was arrested but dont think so.  
Not to be outdone there have been two murders in Arlington where men were killed for one apparent reason in public. Both coming home from work. One at Pentagon Square and one about  a mile from Ballston. Neither resulted in an arrest. There are bad people here.

and yes that is a Residence Inn, entrance on Vermont Ave.  And the Washington Plaza and Westin Washington are both also right there.  Donovan House not used by providers too much because of card-key controlled elevators, but that obviously didn't help protect the victim.  Seems to me that if they're focused on the POI, whose videos were taken around 7:30-8:00 pm the night before the body was found indicates they have a time-of-death around then.  Since he texted his wife just before that he'd be home in an hour he was planning a short visit, which looks like either a provider hookup or a drug buy; the news story speculated maybe an informant from a case, but he was an intellectual property rights lawyer so not much cloak-and-dagger stuff there I wouldn't think.  But pretty likely he was there for some sort of illegal activity that went wrong (I'd bet on a drug buy if he planned to be home in an hour).  Not sure that taints the neighborhood, could have happened in virtually any hotel in the city, this just happened to be reasonably close to where he worked.   Pretty sure the previously mentioned killing in Dupont Circle is not at all relevant; yes, there are bad people here just like all big cities.

the victim brought them; since he was coming from work, much more likely they belonged to whoever he was meeting there.  If it was a visit to a provider, given the time of his text that he'd be home in an hour, it could only have been a 30-minute hookup; thus it could have just as likely been a drug deal gone bad--into the room, do the buy, be on his way home in a few minutes.

I had an assignation there several years ago and while the paper refers to it as upscale, the clientele I saw then, coming in and out was not.  Mid afternoon and many ladies at reception desk to check-in or check-out with very high heels and very short dresses.  Seems despite the key card requirement for the elevator and post modern rooms the hotel attracted patrons who seek attention.

There is a way around the keycard system at this hotel. I had stayed there once via PL and will not return.

Was the hotel under his name?  
I'm confused if he went to see a provider why would he get a room for a quick visit?
If indeed he saw someone shouldn't the hotel have the guest information?
Something doesn't add up.. May he rest in peace
