Professionalism...

Having less than professionals take pics of me has never panned out to be a good decision. I have wasted time and money going the easy route and now taking photos for this world will only be with those I can trust to take a decent pic that reflects my likeness and can get the proofs and final edited/ blurred photos back in a timely fashion. If I guy wants to just snap sexy pics of me, well I have a fee for that. If they are any good, I would possibly use them on my website.

Photos are intimate, the whole process involves a level of trust. Professionalism and discretion, first and foremost. Random amateur photographers are welcome to book an appointment, there are no freebies or favors for pics in my book.  Lol!

Good morning,

I just wanted to check with the lovely ladies of DC for their opinions/thoughts on photographers.  When choosing one, what qualities or attributes are most important to you?  I have more questions, but wanted to get the thread started with a general one.  This could end up being an interesting thread.

Thanks,

Jason

....(or close) i'm more likely to pass on a photog if I don't see that or if I do they're all laying down or showing only from tits up. Other things are high quality resolution and good lighting without excessive touch-ups. There's so much but those are a start.

their own opinion of what makes a great photo.  Honestly, I liked your portfolio.  Variety is the number one factor and you offer just that.  It seems like you may be getting a little discouraged, so you're looking to see what will bring in the crowd of ladies.  Just know that many ladies already have their favorite photographers, although many of the pictures end up looking the same (I've made the mistake in the past).

For anyone who has received and considered emails from me spam, I'd like to truly apologize.  Even though it has led to some amazing leads and opportunities, it’s not the right way to introduce myself and I shall cease doing it.

Jaye and Mocha, thanks for the input.  Very informative.

I also like how open you are to ideas and input. Way to go! If I were in the market for a photographer, you'd be the one I'd call first. I do think great photos taken by someone who understands lighting, poses, and the camera and knows what he is doing makes a difference. Just ignore the static! I hope you get some business!

I just had a wonderful video done but the shoot itself was really taxing as my videographer was insufferable and said some rather insulting things about my body, which I did not appreciate and greatly detracted from my comfort during the shoot. If you are talking about what is and isn't flattering, speak positively instead of negatively, offer suggestions instead of criticisms. In contrast, the lady who shot my recent photos was really wonderful and upbeat and made me feel really sexy rather than defensive. Everyone responds well to praise, but don't be creepy or overtly sexual about it either. We are paying you for a professional service and should be treated the same as any non-sex worker paying for pictures.

I’m sorry to hear that, Harlowe. That’s pretty disturbing.  Sadly, that’s not the first time I’ve heard such a story.  I guess some of these people let their ego take over and can be quite insensitive to the needs or feelings of their clients, and that’s completely unacceptable and unprofessional.  Like you said, you are paying for their professional services and should be treated with decency and respect.  I really can’t wrap my head around how anyone who thinks insulting a client can expect anything good to come from a shoot, especially if they’re half-naked and at their most vulnerable.

If Eve never ate the damn Apple....

DSLR or decent mobile phones...plus a tripod. Photo apps are powerful these days and of course photoshop.

RAW images are best and can always be made to perfection....but mofos kill it with IPhones and Instagram filters these days, lol.

Ladies design their own websites...with a little Internet research a photographer seems like a waste unless it's for a special event or a publication IMO. Pose ideas/inspiration can be found on the web to boot.

Is there no end to your talents? Are you a photographer as well as an economist?

Actually, he's just a "boy" and you can clearly see his unmistakable lack of experience in all of his posts.  It's quite amusing.  Thinks he knows everything and really knows nothing.

I wish him well as maybe, just maybe, one day he'll grow up to be a man, but probably not based on the posts of his that I've read

There really is an art to capturing what the eye sees.  Sure, you can do this stuff with common equipment.  If I had a nickel for every self-proclaimed photographer, who just so happened to enjoy hobbying, I'd be in the negative from all the trade negotiations for pics.  Seriously though, for a start up or for someone who wants control over their art, doing it yourself is definitely a viable option.

When you want to put your best foot forward, it's best you hire a pro with a portfolio.  The downside is when a photographer rents you your art back.  :-/
