I'm all about walkable communities, but "live-where-you-work"? I've never done that, lol! That being said, I'm coming home to MD to visit the family but I also want to make some new friends too, but I have no idea WHERE...as in what area. I've heard Tysons Corner is where I should be but traffic on the outterloop starts at freakin Georgia Avenue! I'll be available for incall, and perhaps some outcall (still know the area like the back of my hand) but I'd like to be convenient to my new friends. Thanks in advance for your opinions/suggestions.

The 2 locations that seem to have the most traffic are Dupont Circle and Tysons.

Both have their advantages and disadvantages.

For me, if I'm looking for a little time off during the day, Dupont Circle is the choice.  If I am taking an afternoon off, I generally choose Tysons (not always).

On the weekend, it would always be Tysons (too much time on the metro).

I imagine that it all depends on the guy and their location (work and home).

Good Luck and welcome home.

Tysons is the only choice.  Right off the Beltway and the best location for two of the wealthiest counties in the country, Fairfax and Loudoun.

What's wrong with BWI area or College Park??

I moved down to Atlanta two years ago - and I love it! But still, there's nothing like driving down North Capitol Street and seeing the dome of the Capitol Building in front of you!

Yes, I know Dupont is for "hard legs", lol!

College Park - wow! That IS close to home...and 495/95/295.

Thank you all for your suggestions...one more quick question though, is there anywhere that you would specifically NOT recommend that I go? I know what areas I am comfortable in, but just wondering.

THANKS!

I'd probably stay away from Springfiled and anywhere further south on 95.  Also, whild College Park is close to the Beltway and 95, it wouldn't be my choice to travel to see a provider.  I completely understand your feelings about Tysons so I'd also suggest Dupont Cir.  Enjoy your stay.

I completely understand your feelings about College Park...I would much rather go shopping at the Galleria than at PG Plaza myself :)

You might actually consider trying two different locations. Some guys (such as myself) actually live north of Baltimore, so traveling to Tysons or Dupont Circle is generally out of the question. College Park is doable. Of course, there's always BWI but so many complain that there's nothing to do there in between sessions, and I completely understand. What about the inner harbor?

For reasons which I don't completely understand, in the Baltimore-Washington market has evolved into having Dupont Circle, Tysons Corner and BWI as the 3 popular locations for touring ladies. And you know that already. Perhaps the parameters are the availability of hotels, convenience and safety. With all the construction around Tysons or perhaps other factors, I'm starting to see incalls moving to to its periphery.

From what I read in this board, many NoVA hobbyists just hate to travel to MD and vice versa. And many of us who don't work downtown just hate to go there. So there is no one place that satisfies everyone. I would say that if you are in NoVA, try to stay close to I-495 near Tysons, which minimizes travel time for clients across the river. If you are in MD, stay close to BWI to attract clients from Baltimore, Columbia and the MD suburbs of DC. If you are in DC, stay close to the Metro in a safe area such as Dupont Circle.

Who knows? Perhaps in a few years other popular locations will pop up.

Basically in the DC area there are 2 kinds of hobbyists (and residents in general), those who are comfortable/used to using Metro & using & enjoying the city, and those who are wed to their private vehicles, don't like to use public transportation at all & don't like to go into the city due to traffic & hard to find/expensive parking (the reasons the former group uses Metro).   No point debating who's right, just recognize that both groups are the way they are and unlikely to alter their behavoir, though the Metro users are (I think) somewhat more likely to go to the burbs to see the right lady than vice versa.
So a lot of visiting ladies do 2-3  nights downtown/Dupont area & 2-3 nights in Tysons.
Two other poiints:
 - Tysons is really a mess right now from all the construction there (two concurrent major projects); last time I saw a provider there it took me 1/2 hour just to get from the hotel back to the beltway, includng sitting through 3+ cycles of some traffic lights.
 - For downtown DC don't restrict yourself to just Dupont Circle; there are a number of nice hotels in the Scott Circle, Thomas Circle & Foggy Bottom areas.  Maybe not as rich in restaurants, clubs & night life but just as Metro accessible.
Good luck.

Well said.  Nice of you to give the whole unbiased view.

Better than just replying for the sake of it.

Tysons is good, plenty of hotels. Arlington is another good location.

Well, I suppose it's because those are "affluent" areas of town. Ideally, I'd like to spend some time up 270, then a day or two maybe in the College Park area, downtown, and a day or two in VA. Unfortunately, I won't be in town that long :(

Sooooo....I think I'll just have to plan to visit more often :)

P.S.

My suggestion is host at 2 or 3 different locations.  This way, you do not eliminate potential clients based on your location, as many guys from Virginia will not go to BWI or to College Park and many Maryland guys will not venture to Tysons Corner or Crystal City (Arlington, VA).  Most will go to DuPont Circle area as it is centrally located and Metro (subway) accessible, but the hotel room costs are quite a bit higher.

Therefore, suggest that you plan a 4-5 day visit and hit 2-3 different locations, ideal for you and everyone is the area is a day or two at BWI or College Park, two days in DC (DuPont Circle preferably or Georgetown or Capital Hill) and a day or two at either Tysons Corner or Crystal City...this way, none of the great hobbyists in the DC area, can use your location as an excuse not to see you...

Safe travels,
