Yea, I get 'em from a couple providers but I also have a phone for hobbying so it isn't a big deal. Most of them asked before adding me to the "text list".

I agree...considering how many say they "hate" to use it, it was interesting, although I prefer texting...

but I have never had this problem.  I get unsolicited emails, which is fine as I have a hobby account.  But unwanted text messages would be a huge red flag ...

I recently had a provider start texting me on my cell phone days/weeks after our appointment telling me her availability and to come see her.  Not that I really care, but I would hate to have someone else pick up my phone and see the message.  I was surpised by this (given her website explicitly says no text messages), and was wondering if others have had this experience.

until texting will replace the emailed spam you receive everyday. With the ability to have unlimited texting for relatively cheap monthly charges, sending out a text every morning to every one of her clients will most likely result in some business. Plus,  a text will most likely be checked more often than an email.

On one hand, I would say get used to it. On the other, I would say it would not be asking much to ask her to stop doing it. I get an update text from a local agency when there is a new girl available, which I think is great. But, I do not have snooping eyes to worry about either-bachelor life is great

Just be a gentlemann about it and send her a text back telling her that it would not be prudent for her to text you again. Just explain that your wife, daughter, business assosciates, etc., may ahve access to your messages. Just say that it was fun and you will contact her if you wish to see her again.

As a single guy I am just fine with providers texting or calling me. Especially, when they tell me that they are featuring special rates.

I think there's a difference between updating and annoying text messages. Even if you don't have snooping eyes around you never know who'll pick up your phone like snoopy friends lol

Great question!  In my case, no problem.  Living alone does have advantages, but can be pretty boring.  It depends on what you can afford.  Years ago, my then wife would have made my life pretty miserable had had she found a strange text.  Happily, the technology did not exist back then.

Id agree to that-good point. Annoying and "updating" are two different things.

You're not the only one. I had the same thing happen to me a couple of years ago. Aside from the fact that it's wrong for a provider to text someone any time they feel like it without consent, some people need to realize that while texting has become very popular, everyone doesn't do the text thing. I hate text messages, to the point that I now have them blocked entirely on my phone. I can't send nor receive them anymore. Maybe it would be different if I had one of those phones with a QWERTY keyboard, but I don't. Typing a message on a number pad is a pain in the a$$ so I blocked them completely.

The lady I saw emailed me her location info and told me to call her for the room number when I got there. So I did, and she didn't answer. Drove around for 5 minutes and called her again. Still no answer. Left a message and planned on giving her 5 more minutes and giving up. Called again and still no answer. Just as I started heading back home I get a text message with her room number. Anyway, turned around and went back to see her. Session was alright but not great. We just didn't click. I thought it was kind of obvious and had no plans to see her again. A month later my phone starts beeping at 3AM while I was sleeping! It was a text from this idiot with her schedule for an upcoming tour to my area. And I got the impression it was sent as a group text, so I'm sure I wasn't the only one so lucky to be woken up with her nonsense. I replied immediately thanking her for waking me up and told her to delete me from her phone and not contact me again, which took care of it. BUT, the thing is, this is someone well established with great reviews and a good following. As much as the guys seem to love her, I was surprised I never read anything about her texting practices in any of her boatload of reviews. This was a couple of years ago and while she's still around and very active, no need to mention names. Maybe she's changed or maybe she'll read this thread since this is her home board and rethink things if she still relies so heavily on texting. Actually, aside from email or two, all she did was text.

Anyway, to those that do rely heavily/solely on texting, whether it's already happened or not, understand that could end up losing you an appointment one day. Whether from texting someone your availability without their consent, or texting a client your location info if that client has no ability to receive your message and you won't answer the damn phone! . Then again, maybe I'm the only one on the planet still using a phone to actually talk to people. Sometimes I wonder. Does that make me old school?

I'm sure some of the more tech-saavy folks know this.  I use Google Voice.  Calls go straight to your mobile phone, but you are prompted before you answer, so you can screen, block numbers, control what goes where, etc.. and you can call out using the number too.  All of this is particularly easy on an Android phone, but there are apps for Blackberry & Windows Mobile (don't know about iPhone).  It's been great for me.  Not that I have this problem with folks texting me, but all the same, I find it generally useful to have another phone number specifically for play.

You have more to fear with someone finding HER phone, and tracing back your number.

Those who use hobby phones may change their numbers frequently. She would be giving out her availability and location to someone who get pissed off. . .

way to market yourself (being a smart ass when i say that) thats dangerous for the client and the provider.  I mean break up a happy home why don't you, or get a wife or girlfriend super pissed to the point she sets your ass up and turn you over to police. Wow not smart at all.

Haha I don't know I guess he thought I was just a mess. Because I NeVER asked for advance,,,I had left my credit card behind and lol my photos are recent! I am a brunette currently and the nude shots and the brunette ones aren't even half a year old!!!! Ohhh well some guys can't be pleased. If I was that old looking maybe he should of stuck to an actual highschool girl!! Lol I wasn't taking those kind of photos in highschool!! Gross!

yes ,Sonya Lynn , she  would text me 2 to 3 times a day to set up next apt. for later in week or following week.
