So a very well respected, highly rated local provider had a fake review of her posted this weekend.

She has three pages of reviews that are mostly 8/9s with some 10s thrown in and I think one 7.

Then this board member comes along and posts a review giving her scores of 6/6. I'd think those scores alone would immediately make someone wonder about the veracity of the review. But the person also describes her as engaging in an activity (CBJ) that has never been mentioned in a review before.

The provider is fairly sure she never saw this guy, and on the chance that she did, she certainly didn't perform a CBJ on him or anyone - ever.

So why does a guy post such a review. He has a review history but hadn't posted a review in more than a year. If he wanted the free VIP days, wouldn't he post a review with scores and activities that are typical of her other reviews so as not to draw attention to his fake one?

I think another provider with a grudge against the reviewee got the weak-willed scumbag to post the review to sully the reputation of the first provider.

So would you guys easily spot a fake such as this? And why do you think the guy posted it.

Dumb as that sounds if the provider has a common name and the reviewer isnt TER savy(which is a pretty short list) that may be the problem.

I would certainly contact TER about it since, as you pointed out, the provder dosent do
CBJs..ever! I think its safe to say pretty much everyone knows the differnce so a review specificly stating that should be chllenged.

With that in mind I think there is fair chance the guy was reviewing someone else. Tell your friend to question it for sure.

Just trying to be 100 percent accurate.

Maybe this outlier review really is the result of a conspiracy involving another provider with a grudge and a "weak-willed scumbag" accomplice.
Or maybe for that session with that person at that time your favorite provider rated 6/6.  I don't think it's beyond the realm of possibility for 1 client out of 30 to give low marks to an otherwise highly reviewed provider.  And I don't think it's a big deal.
I'm less curious about why the reviewer posted the review than I am about why you posted your screed against him.  Most of the time when providers believe a review is fake, they post here and say so.  From what you posted, the provider in question is not ruling out the possibility that she saw this guy.
And while I have heard providers disclaim reviews by citing activities described in the review but which they don't engage in, I've never heard a provider announcing that she has never given anyone a CBJ.  So even if a client insists on it, she will say no?  If she does an inspection and sees something down there that doesn't look right, she's still down with the BBBJ?  I find that hard to believe.
I'm not saying this review is real.  I have no idea.  What I am saying is 1 bad review out of 30 is truly not a big deal.

1) Yes it could be a mistake.
2) It could be another petty provider.

However let's not lose sight of the BIG PICTURE. No matter how you slice it, dice it or make julian fries, the review is in-congruent against the back drop of her other reviews. Any reasonable and rational person (well that makes most Congress and the Senate ineligible) can is it's an anomaly.

Suggest to her to a bring it up with TER customer service and to subsequently move on.

While he doesn't have more White List referals he does have many more reviews than you and has been around for a few more years also.

From reading the review it stated he requested a CBJ. Also the lack of juicy details could be the reason the score low if TER bumped it down.

This one review may or may not be fake. But it will make little difference to her with all the other reviews.

There was a provider who came through here not long ago. Here in DC, and in the last few places she visited (I did not check farther back), a "reviewer" popped up and gave a mediocre and skillfully doubt inducing review for one or more top local providers, while having given a fantastic review to this traveling lady. These "reviewers" had at most two "reviews" each.

Our local reviewers gave this lady 6s and 8s on her visit lol. Karma I suppose....

At least one instance I have seen of providers either coopting clients or themselves creating usernames here and on other boards to post negative reviews about the competition while trying to fluff their own scores.....

I've alerted a couple of providers when I thought someone wrote an obviously fake review that might hurt them, but by and large I think they don't have that great an effect for anyone with more than a couple of reviews.  There are any myriad of reasons someone might post a fake or negative review but I generally think reviews should be something like movie reviews ... find a couple of critics (hobbyists) you seem to have the same tastes as and use their reviews as your guide.  Hasn't steered me wrong yet !

Thanks for the response. The provider in question did post about the review and her post was quickly taken down, telling her to file a problem report.
I posted this to try to gain insight into why someone would lie in a review and to see if guys usually viewed these "outlier" reviews with caution. Thanks for addressing the latter. I was not trying to be a White Knight for the provider (as I didn't mention her by name nor call out the reviewe (as I didn't mention his name either).

Most of them gave me some of the insight I was seeking. Thanks.I won't repond to any more of them unless I'm asked a question.
