An old adage states: “Let a sleeping dog lie”.  This means once damage has been dealt with, leave it alone and let time cure the ills.  Unfortunately in this case, the “dog” had not been “sleeping” (only left unattended).  This is because not the entire problem was originally dealt with (or even realized).  Now, the “poor animal” must be “put down”, once and for all.

The “animal” in question was my involvement at Lindsay’s second party, and what I have initiated since.  Just about everybody in here is aware of my unfortunate and inappropriate “review” of that party on this board back in March.  I apologized for that review and the moderator withdrew it from the board at my request.  I thought that had dealt with the matter; however it had not.  There were other problems with which I was not aware at the time, and a more recent problem which I caused with which I have just become aware.

Most of those present were aware of certain behavior on my part which offended several attendees.  I was not aware of this behavior because of my impaired state.  That impairment was caused by my excessive consumption of an unfortunate mixture of (shall we say) volatile liquids.  The excess was caused because recent health conditions have changed my tolerance for such substances.  Because I rarely have consumed them, I was not aware of the change.  Hence this affected everything which transpired.

So far, I have still been talking about “old business”.   However in the backchannel, in my ill fated attempts to put a humorous “spin” on this, I was only adding more fuel to the still “hot embers”.   I jokingly suggested that the co-hostess coerced me into my consumption.  Unfortunately this spawned rumors to the effect that she actually could and HAD.  I just became aware that as a result of these rumors she has unfortunately taken a good deal of “grief” for something with which she was totally NOT responsible.

I issue my most heartfelt apologies to ALL who were offended at the party.  I also apologize to YOU, Autumn.  I am sorry for all the trouble which this has caused you.  I hope you will accept my apology which I issue UNCONDITIONALLY because it is overdue and necessary.

Folks, I do issue ONE request.  It is time to give this “animal” a proper “memorial”, dispense of its “remains”, forever relegate this unfortunate affair to the past, and MOVE ON.  Too much damage has been done already.  It is time for it to END once and for all.

...it's not really fair to say "leave it alone" after he posted it on a public board. Call me crazy, but that's got to the worst way in the world to "bury" something.

I think those of us who are out of the loop should have a contest to see who can make up the best story about what this is all about...

I for one suspect it has something to do with cicadas, dish soap, and Saran wrap, but that's just a theory at this point.

Lex, I want to assure you that you want to STAY out of THIS loop.  Otherwise, you might hang yourself with it as it tightens into a noose.
