My M&GS were not collaborative.

It seems that a lot of Meet & Greets are now being run by ladies or as a partnership between a guy and a lady. My question is: Does it make you feel more comfortable to have a lady involved with the planning process? Would you be comfortable going to an M&G, that was just planned by a guy? Guys, what is the biggest factor for whether you would attend or not?

I am asking on this board, because I noticed at the last DC M&G, that there were far more traveling ladies than local ladies, and for a local M&G to be successful it has to be supported by local ladies. At least in my opinion.

I have entertained the idea of putting together a Meet and Greet. I would potentially be willing to do one or two a year. If everyone was in support of me doing this again? It has been a long time, but I still feel like I could put together a pretty good party.

Let me know your thoughts

Way to much drama imho. Looks like you slammed the local ladies.

Why did you stop doing M&Gs?

How will you get more support from the local ladies?

Just curious.

I just don't know that the local ladies were reached out to and encouraged to come. I felt that they would have made it better

When I was running the DC Meet & Greets they were very successful, but I had put on 6 or 7 in less than 15 months. It was a lot to do that many in such a short amount of time. It think it is great to have them periodically, but every other month was too much.

Second reason, I stopped was due to stepping away from hobby all together due things that needed attention in my personal life. I was away from the hobby for a couple of years due to this.

Second part:
I would start by personally reaching out to the local ladies with a personal invite. I would ensure that the venue was secure and safety measures were in place.

There were quite a few. Many were collaborative efforts so it's difficult to give a definitive number. I would say they were successful

....most of them RSVP'd yes and expressed an interest. It's a shame that many did not show or changed their response at the last minute. It was a was busy week in DC with visitors for graduation and other events. Perhaps they were too busy to attend the DC Meet & Greet. It would have been nice to see more DC ladies, but so happy the turnout was fabulous with the awesome DC gents and visiting ladies and t a few DC ladies who had a fabulous time.

Until next time....

Balto helped helped me scout locations, but other than that they were not collaborative.

When I stepped away, I turned my spread sheets and all my information over to Balto, so that the M&G's could continue without trouble.

Please me to restate the collaboration. When I started the DC M&G"s, I was the one ultimately, screening the gentlemen and securing the location and primarily planning the events; however, as stated before, Balto helped me scout locations, and it was a group effort of several people reaching out ladies and gentlemen to build the events from 4 or 5 guys getting together for happy jour at the Green Turtle, to private 60 or 70 person events that they were when I passed them to Balto.

I wanted to post this statement as I felt that I did not give enough credit to those who did help out with getting people out to the events. All of that assistance was greatly appreciated and should be recognised.

These events can be great for the whole community, both the men and women. I did not offer to plan one again, because I have an ego or any hope for personal gain. I was just trying to give something back to this community, which was my primary reason for starting them in the first place 10 years ago.

Well worth the trip from NJ.  Yes, some of the ladies were from out of town, but it was essentially our core crew, and we travel everywhere.

As a veteran of M&G's for the last decade, you ALWAYS want to extend this to include folks from everywhere, not just locally.  DC is one of the great places that will attract providers and hobbyists to visit...if you ever plan to host a future M&G, you should keep this in mind.

I think Toni did a fabulous job. She pulled off things like the ladies luncheon that were a big hit and I could never pull off. I hope that Toni will come back to DC and do another of her events in the future. I am not trying to top Toni or say that I could do better. I was just trying to supplement what she does. If she comes to DC once or twice a year with her events, and someone else plans an event once or twice a year, then the area gets 3 to four events a year. Hopefully, that can help bring back some of the trust that has been lost in these events recently.

My comment about not having a lot of local DC / BMore ladies at the event, is a simple fact. I am not blaming that at all on Toni. Many ladies cancelled on her at the last minute. She did a great job.

Toni - I hope that you see this thread for what it is, and not an attack on what you did. I was just trying to supplement what you do.

The first M&G that I ever hosted was at in Alexandria, top floor of a bar. Then I moved it to a bar in Silver Spring where we were again in the private top floor of a bar/restaurant. Everyone seemed to like this location for its Metro and parking access, so I hosted two or three more at this location. Then we had a more exclusive event at a private home, and then I assisted with Balto's first M&G, so I guess you could call that 5.5 instead of 6.

I was only revising my statements because I didn't want anyone who was around at that time to help me with increasing the attendance to feel like I didn't appreciate or recognize their efforts.

...it is a shame that more local ladies did not attend. The Luncheon, the Meet & Greet and the VIP events were all fabulous and fun. It was a great turnout by the ladies and gentlemen. As you pointed out though, not many local ladies attended. That was a shame. After hostessing these events nationally for years now, it is always fun to see all of the locals!  We always have a few ladies and gents that travel in for the events, but it is a great time for the locals. I am sure your Meet & Greets every few months would be great. Hope to attend one myself.

Thanks again for coming and your wonderful comments!  Keep the parties coming...

...it would have been nice to see more of a local presence by the ladies. As I said before, perhaps it being graduation week may have played a factor. Regardless, they were all invited personally and it had been posted on the DC and Meet & Greet Boards for weeks.

I don't see why the goal has to be to meet only the local ladies.  Some of the traveling ladies, particularly in DC, visit often and might as well be local.  I think an M&G is just a great way to meet more people in the hobby.  The rest of this debate doesn't seem worth while.

I know that neighborhood and it can be unsafe at night. I am sure it was a great place for a M&G but I am just extra careful, being a lady alone.  If it had been at another location, or I had a guy with me, I would have come. Maybe I am overly cautious, but better safe than sorry. I was sorry to have missed it, though. I hope you had fun!

I had a ball at Sexy Toni's m&g! The ladies were all beautiful and far more personalable than any other events I've attended. I blame it on the time of the year. Or like one of my friends from the hobby stated they just didn't pay attention to the boards, but would have loved to be in attendance. I love the meet and greets, we get to unveil, let out hair down, and be ourselves!
