I was talking with a dear friend the other evening, and we got to discussing how much expendable money hobbyists have.
How many of you hobbyists have been using your retirement funds to hobby? ( I am just curious, is all)
I hadn't seen it brought up before, so I thought I would ask.

None.  As prices go up I have been hobbying less.  to the point that in total I am actually spending less money on the hobby.  There always, with any service, comes a point where the price increases actually cause less to be spent overall.  (Probably off topic but still rellavent)

I don't just play an Economist on TV, I am one in real life....the previous post refers to the "elasticity of demand".

Nope, middle aged here and not yet in retirement.  As for the money for hobbying the issue is not so much expendable income but incognito expendable income.  It would be tough to be going through a grand a month on private experiences and not have that show up somehow.  I don't drink, I don't do drugs, you ladies are my only "habit".  So as I move away from the Back Page girls and toward more meaningful events with the ladies of TER there will be related challenges.

priorities if they are spending retirement funds on hookers.

First things first... First you take care of your rent/mortgage, food, clothing.. Then save for retirement savings. After that is done, you can spend portion of funds on hobbying.. That's how I do it.  I, personally, don't consider this hobby as necessity, even though this is the only way I can get sex. For me, it is a luxury to pay someone a few hundred dollars to get my dick sucked. If I don't get it, I ain't dying.

I have been doing this for about 10 yrs now, and baring first few years, I've rarely strayed off course as far as my hobbying budget is concerned.

For those who feel the need to tap into their retirement funds, get a 2nd job to support the hobbying.. I did some consulting work last year because I wanted to go to Germany to enjoy FKK scene and needed extra 5K. Not that I didn't have extra 5K, but I just wanted to keep the finances separate.

One thing I try to emphasize to some of my friends are, to save their money for when they retire. First, if they don't have enough money in their savings account, then they shouldn't be doing anything in the first place. Second, when you get that old, a person can't sustain themselves with work. They are dependent on their social security, retirement savings, and other financial investments. That being said, if he or she decides to spend their retirement money, then they will literally go hungry and are unable to support themselves financially. Its not like they can get a regular job and supplement their income.

The solution, to save enough money, and I mean it has to be enough to sustain a person for the remaining years. Some people at that age still pay rent!! 100K is the minimum an old geezer should have in his savings account because that money will be spent up quickly if he doesn't make the necessary changes.

So, don't hobby if you can't afford it. After I pay my bills, set aside enough money for the savings, and set aside enough money for living expenses for that month, and if I have any money left over, then, and only then is it appropriate to hobby. If a person is spending $300 here and there and fucks several times a month, that can add up.

Every decision a person makes will ultimately affect him in the future. It is better to be wise now, and think about their decisions before it impacts them in a negative way.

But I do know of a guy who dug into his funds and dumped it on his ATF (trying to impress her). Unfortunately for him, the relationship crumbled along with his kids college fund.

From adult films. I earn 12-18% with little risk.  back 30 years ago I started investing with $5K and the fund now has 7 zeroes to left of the decimal point.

And don't let anyone kid you. Every extra $ spent is 1 not available at or during retirement. So even those who spend the interest on trust funds, when they could have used it for retirement.

Me, I use other peoples money :)

I won't live long enough to retire so it's money that would have been part of someone's inheritance I guess.

Does the blue collar worker forgo hobbying to save all he can for retirement? What happens then? Which scenario does he regret? Looking back on his life at all the hot provider pleasure he sacrificed in order to live comfortably in old age? Or is it a considerably low quality of retirement living but smiling at all the ass he pounded?

Better not get a serious ailment during your retirement years. The Health Industry will suck you dry until the money runs out. When the money does run out, they will put you out to pasture, or even worse, the hospice.

My goals were to have the house paid off, the cars paid off, the kids college costs paid for, and a bag of money for my daughter's wedding when I retired.  Did that.

All money above that is for retirement.

And, in essence, any hobbying money is coming off the top of the retirement fund.

Any dollar spent is taken out of the retirement fund.

"Do what thou wilt"....
Spend the whole bloody wad and enjoy hobbying and everything else while you're young enough to enjoy it. Who wants to be decrepit drooling old fuck anyway? Then, when it's all gone  and you're approaching that certain age, "take care of matters" yourself with a Glock or some other manner of your choosing....
In the words of the Who: "hope I die before I get old...."
And, after all that, I know of a nice..... hmmmmmm......very very warm vacation spot you can come to.  I own it....all inclusive resort..."free" admission to all.......only a small token required for entrance...your soul...

I spent my whole life pouring effort into my future.  Studying, working hard, saving money.  Then I got to middle age and realized that even though I was fully successful, I was still doing it, and life was not going to get any better than it was now.  I was just going to get older and more decrepit.  Do I want to pay for someone to push my wheel chair around a "Carnival Cruiseline" ship in the future or spend some quality time with a beautiful lady now?  Since the realization I have thrown more caution to the wind.
