i see someone sent me a message this morning but unfortunately my VIP ended this summer.

is largely about sharing information about experiences and helping fellow hobbyists enjoy the hobby safely.  You certainly have the right to not post reviews and try to keep the providers you see under the rader  Yet here you are now, asking for help from the very community which you have chosen not to similarly help by telling what you've learned.  So it shouldn't be surprising if you find that community less than eager to help.  If want to play the game, play the game completely.   If you choose to lurk on the sidelines, don't expect a lot of help when you ask for it.  No hard feelings, but that's how it is.

In addition to choosing to not write reviews you won't pony up for VIP to do your research? Go have fun on Eros, it's free and the Asian section is pretty accurate. And you are welcome for even telling you that much.

You get what you give; give nothing, you should expect nothing.  You may be a nice guy.  You may be sincerely asking for help in your quest.   But I don't know what you mean by 'more friendly.'  You have chosen to not post reviews (for reasons that may make sense for you); you have chosen to not pay for VIP status and thus can't get PM's if someone does want to help you.  So forgive me if it just seems like you are all take and no give.  
Yes, it's your choice to participate or not as you choose.  But don't expect those of us who give a little more (time to write & submit reviews, invest in VIP status, etc.) to go out of our way to help you out.  Maybe the community was more friendly when you were more of a participant than a spectator.
But good luck in your search.  I can easily think of a couple of answers to your quest but you could as well with just a little effort on research.  So most of us see no reason to help you, and I see no reason to continue this dialogue.
