had a 10pm appointment this evening, for 2 hours.  Client calls at 9:42, says he is here early.  No problem!  Come on up.  I wait until !0;15, no one shows, does not answer his phone.  I get dressed, head home.  He buzzes in at 10:18. I tell him I have left.  He expects me to come back.  I realize I am only down the road, but my "Angelina" mood is shot, I am mentally done for the night>  I try and explain this, with no luck and the saga continues with constant texts about me being unreasonable, etc etc.

Threatened to out me on this board, hence I am putting it out myself.!  Opinions?  You guys are good for that!  LO

He was the one who was late, even though he said he was early...he could eat least explained- it's not a long time, but still, if you kept it to 2 hrs starting at 10:00, he would've labeled you a clock watcher- the respect should go both ways, IMHO

So, I dont get too disappointed if it doesnt happen.

To me, it's worse if i'm expecting a confirmation email and I don't get one. I have to worry/wonder ALL day.

I'll make it simple, it sounds like :

1) He was not there and just wanted to room number for whatever reason. I remember the days when that was called a lie.
2) Assuming we're talking about a hotel, he discovered he was a at the wrong one and just didn't want to admit it after catching his mistake.
3) He slipped into a worm hole and just didn't know he skipped forward in time.

There is nothing to "out" here. The terms of the arrangement was 10PM 2 hours. You upheld your end of the agreement, he was late without due respect nor explanation.

Usually with this kind of personality type,  any attempt to fix or correct the situation will no work.

I suggest you stop by a sex shop, buy a medium butt plug and lube.  then have ti gift wrapped to be sent to him with a little note.

" Thank you for the opportunity.  However after careful consideration you can take your threat.  along with this plug and stick it where the sun don't shine. "

Based upon what you wrote you did nothing wrong. I hope this helps :)

ngelina - I don't think you have anything to worry about

It does beg to ask "WTF was he doing for 30ish min?" and "Why didn't he wait so long to call/txt again"

Waiting sucks and you never really know how long you should wait...

We all need to go on our gut and make sure we are safe... no one should be chastised or slammed for being safe... in this case its hard to tell if you dodged a proverbial bullet (New Client, late appointment, 2 hours, he says hes early, but then shows late, "Expects", who knows what else could go wrong)

IMHO if you weren't "Feeling" it, you probably had a reason... and that should be good enough...

Respect is central to any successful relationship.  His behavior was disrespectful, and he owes you an apology.  It would not have worked That night in any case because you were annoyed.  You offer to see him again was quite generous, but he still owes you an explanation, an apology, and his very best behavior when you see him.  You did nothing wrong.

I have seen you on this board for many years and also had the pleasure of meeting you a few times, so I know you are real and you provide great service. For whatever reason it is, these recent months there has been many drama threads about you both publicly and also privately and as I am sure you agree in this line of business that is not good at all.

lateness is considered downright rude, especially without explanation. We all know life happens, but not without explanation. Hopefully he will admit at least some responsibility in being late last night.

And you are being more than gracious. Let's see, if I make a late night appointment with you, then no-show without explanation, I can meet you the next day and get a discount? If he is a man of honor, he will pay you the full amount. Trust your instincts on this. And let us know how this works out for you.

But lovely ladies such as yourself are not - and I am not referring to the money.  We all have lives outside of this and courtesy should be a key component of a gentleman's interaction with you.  He violated that on several levels.

I hope your reschedule goes well, but my gut says it not be a great experience for you.  Sorry :(

You did the right thing.  Hearing that is was a new client makes it even more the right choice.  If this were an interview for a job, would this be acceptable?  How difficult is it to make a quick call if something happens or to at least respond to a call from you.  I've been in traffic and called 20 min early to let them know I may be running a little late. Professional courtesy goes a long way.  As others said. New client, late night apt, running late with no response.  Safety first. If I were that late and did all the things this person did, I'd be embarrassed not angry.

Yes, I've been stood up multiple times when I arrived on time, but I've also just written it off to that specific lady and figured it probably a good thing.  You don't need the drama and have more than demonstrated your class. You did nothing wrong.

It is a fine line considering he was "late," a new client, and it was a relatively "Late Night" appointment.

However, he seemed to be serious about continuing with the appointment despite the missing 30 mins.

So the question is does the tie go to the runner?

I rule in your favor given he was a new client.

I wouldn't have given him a discount, you did what you were supposed to do on your end, and he was late. You have several great reviews and are reputable, let him come to the boards and "out" you and everyone will see past his BS.

Thirty two minutes of your lifetime clock is gone forever  , not counting your prep time .

$ 100 off because he was late ,  when he called telling you he would  be early ??????
That does not compute as fair to you .

You have a lot more patience than me and my fifteen minute rule .

Just kidding about being late next time I see you , I'll be on time  and give you the  extra hundred he coerced you out of by his bullying .
Money means zilch to me compared to time .

Angelina,

If you truly value and respect Lee's opinion, I would go with it and not give that client a discount or even the time of day. You have to think about it in terms of what do you gain out of it past the money:

Would he--the new client-- come respect you and the importance of YOUR schedule if you go more than half way to meet him when it was -his- fault that the appointment fell through? 30 minutes late without saying even a word and still expecting you to wait around, on its own is already inexcusable. Then he pulls the out such an incredibly childish card, the: "Adhere-to-my-standards-or-I'm-gonna-BITCH!" card. Everything before that, could even then still be fixed and made up for.. but to go so far as to threaten you? That to me spells out "entitlement issues," and his business isn't worth your precious time. : )

A la Lee's earlier post: " Usually with this kind of personality type, any attempt to fix or correct the situation will not work."

I hope I do not come off as too harsh or black & white, but to be late without a heads-up or even trying to explain and apologize thereafter... Well, I think I'm still too young to be able to use such phrases like: "Back in the good old days," or "perhaps I'm just old-fashion like that," but I am still part of the population that thinks that being courteous should not be limited only to the providers. I really would love to hear his side of it, just to be fair and see the situation more clearly but based off of what you've wrote, that is my opinion.

Best wishes to you and hope there won't be any more problems for awhile!

I do feel much better and not in the wrong.  I have also decided to cancel the appointment as I think I am asking for trouble.  No matter what I do at this point, he will find fault in.  I can see the writing on the wall!  LOL!  Thanks to everyone for their advice.  Will go with my spidey senses and move on... and Lee, as always, spot on!  Thanks.

First, glad you cancelled the appointment. That had disaster written all over it.

With that being said, could see calling ten minutes before getting to the parking lot to get maximum time - if the provider is on time.  Meaning if you call once you're parked, then you have a lag between texts and then walk-up - so you're potentially five to ten minutes down on a sixty minute session.

Calling on a near dead phone battery, so you make the call/ send the text, and you're five minutes out and battery dies, and you can't find your charger.

You've called ahead, directed to an underground garage, and no signal.  So you drive around trying to get signal and not wanting to exit than enter back into the garage.

Thirty minutes seems like a long time, but in Washington, DC thats nothing.  Can take you fifteen minutes to just get into a garage in DC proper.

He should have texted/called and given you an explanation and apologized.  Per Beefeater, I know clients have waited just as long if not longer for a provider to finish up when they're overbooked or running over time...far more than just 18 minutes.

Angelina:  I want to make sure I got this straight. He had a chance to be with you, undoubtedly (in my humble opinion) the best of the best, and he treated ou like that???  Any explanation on why he said he was coming up and then didn't respond for over 30 mins??   People like that -- if the shoe was on the other foot, you k ow he would be writing something horrible in a review.

You not only did the right thing, but the only thing to when someone pulls crap like that.  You deserve much better.  Honestly, I don't get why people don't treat others with respect, especially people like you, Angelina.  Your serviice is not only wonderful, but you are just an amazing person!  Gang, my ATF right here!

"I am here", means he is there. Doesn't take 30-40 mins to get there. He didn't even call! Didn't offer an excuse either. Pretty sure he thought you'd still give him the 2 hrs.

Then he threatened you? WHY would you be willing to see him after that? WHY would you even give him a discount?

When guys threaten and you give in, it just proves to them that they can threaten anytime they don't get their way.

There is zero reason for you to be nice to him and every reason for you to take care of yourself and safety.

Yes, I understand completely how quickly we can go from our personas back to RL
