It's Been 2 Hours...

...and the provider with stellar reviews from the generally reputable agency still hasn't arrived.

(sigh)

First, she was 20mins out.  Then the agency called to tell me she had car trouble (boo!), but would be taking a cab (yay!) and would be here in 35mins.  So, she'd be an hour late.  OK.

I'm easy-going, so I waited until an hour from cab notification to call the agency.  They said, "she's not there yet?" and said they'd call back.

That was 20mins ago.  So, we're now approaching the 2 hour mark.

I actually have a 7:30 call tomorrow.

It's been a while since I've seriously hobbied, longer since I've posted, and this was, I was hoping, going to be a special night.

Anyone around in downtown DC who might want to visit me at my 4-star hotel?  The hotel provided me with a nice bottle of red!

So, who knows, in the end, whether the various excuses that were given were for real.  But, 3 hours late, my friend did show up.

And after a slow start (odd chatter), things did settle down, then got hot and heavy, and WELL worth the wait.

Review to come.

Too bad it isn't Monday Jan 31st.........I'm coming downtown to meet some friends for dinner that night.

You could have been my dessert!!!  (And my car runs just fine)

Incidentally - does this kind of thing happen often with agencies?  Or independents for that matter?

I hate then when something actually happens in our lives that ohh its BS. When clients cancel because they have to pick the kid up who is sick at school, or got called into work, or the meeting ran late or the wife wants to hang out, should we assume its a lame excuse sand that he was never serious to begin with? I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, because we dont really know whats going on, on the other end.

I would hate to lump clients into stereotypes. I hate providers being stereotyped. If we cancel or cant make it maybe we really dont feel well, or maybe we really are having car issue or other things that may pop up. But NOT that we are lazy or too doped up LOL. I am in this business cause I choose to be and it pays well. I am not going to just throw away an appt, Im not stupid.

Yes there ARE flAKY providers who will book appts with a 50/50 chance of actually keeping the appt. Those are fly by night ladies who dont hang around too long anyways, and give us serious ones a bad name. They suck and not in the way that they should be!! ;-)

CM - glad you kept your cool and didn't out a person for being late.  I know it would have been better if they had been more forthcoming and considerate of your time.  Hopefully it was a one time thing and they made it up to you.
