The attitude I have towards Civie women is that i have been with way hotter, smarter and better in bed than you so you aint all that.
As far as a wandering eye. It is a man's nature to look. Heck, even when I was 23 years old and so smitten with my wife, I was still checking out her friends. Now in my early 40s and single, nothing has changed. Thankfully, we don't live in a country where women have to wear a veil and be covered from head to toe so my eyes will be wandering. Whenever I travel, make at least one appointment early in my trip. For whatever reason it seems to me that women pick up that glow that only good sex can create. So that improves my chances right off the bat.So I notice, when I travel, men who are traveling, have a wandering eye. It doesn't matter how I look or what I am wearing, but you guys are still looking, wedding rings and all. So I have this theory, I get it. You're on travel. You're like a kid in a candy store. How do you act? Are you testing the waters or do you lay low? Is this your opportunity to pretend or fantasize or perhaps make fantasy a reality?
Has the hobby improved your confidence to approach women in the civilian world? Or would you just rather trust in knowing that you have a 6PM appointment with a known outcome?

I see that Megan is staying up late again, coming up with good questions. I tease, but I really like it.
Currently, I have no SO. That is part of why I got into the hobby. When I had a SO, I tended to look and maybe flirt, but didn't go past that. I'm very, very visual (should have been an architect), so I enjoy looking. I try not to stare or leer. I also try to be polite and sensitive, as a past SO was offended by my looking at others. Sometimes my looking gets a smile, other times an icy stare (you can't win 'em all).
Later this year, I may start looking for a SO. I think that the hobby has raised the bar, at least a little. I don't expect to date a DDG woman 30 years my junior, but if I don't find someone interesting, affectionate, attractive, etc., I know there is another option

I eyes never wander, man or woman alike. I can't bring myself to do it but, based on your observation that the eye-wanderers are traveling men, I can imagine that if a stranger just walked into your room, you would take a closer look, perhaps for weapons or even LE badges.

When travelingwoman will always catch my attention but that is about all it is. I have no interest in "civies". But I definitely have plenty of entertainment scheduled when I travel.

I do admit occasionally well after my guest has departed and my breathing has returned to normal I find myself in the hotel bar having a nightcap. Often I'll encounter a civi babe and enjoy a very comfortable conversation. But there is no interest in my part to lure her back to my room. However, the thought runs throgh my mind..."if she only new what I was doing an hour ago" ! And I am appreciative that I'm not having to play a game to experience an intimate encounter.

and now that I am in the hobby, I don't worry about civies. Too much drama and emotional roller-coaster. Part of my wandering eye is looking for that glance back from the lady that in a quick moment communicates "I could be interested in you". Doesn't happen in DC where there is no casual eye contact, but it does in most other cities.
Now, my wandering eye in airports is looking to see if I can spot you wonderful ladies while traveling. Have spotted several, even though you may be dressed conservatively. Have even spotted several traveling with clients.
I dont act much differently when in or out of town however, Im pretty sure I act differently around women in general.
There was a time I would, on occasion, be approached by women in clubs and asked something like
"What is with you..You dont dance or talk with women in here."
That was because I was absolutely clueless as to what to say to avoid sounding as lame as I thought I was. So I rarely initiated conversation. Now Im comfortable talking to anyone..pretty sure she will turn out not to be all that anyway, so it dosent matter..And there is always the chance she is, so might as well go for it..
Like others here though, Im not particulary interested in "civies"..

for a familiar favorite. With women being so heavily outnumbered by men in business travel, I think most women get much more attention than they would when they are traveling, so I try not to be too blatant.
I used to try with civilians (rarely worked) and local semi-pros and pros. Twenty years and even more countries and ladies later, I am done chasing after imagined variety. I might make an exception if I go back to Thailand, but I find that a long-term favorite back home or to travel with is more satisfying.
I'm at a different point in the process than most who have answered. After a long and (at least to my mind) happy marriage, I had the pleasure of two DDG SO's half my age or less. One lived with me for 5 years before cancer took her from me. Both were so attractive that when out with my friends and one would point out some particularly attractive woman, I could, with all honesty, use a familiar put down response, "I have better than that at home!"
I've never had a problem talking to women, attractive or otherwise. Being single, I eye every woman at least once, be it at work, locally, or on the road. That hasn't changed in decades. For those I look twice at, I usually amuse myself by appraising them as a sexual partner and then move on. Having been blessed with more than my share of adventure, I now prefer the comfort and convenience of an appointment with a well researched provider. I make that a part of almost every trip.
I'm well beyond Megan's age of interest (see her website), but if you make it a Heath Klondike bar, I'll do just about anything you want.

Actually, I prefer strip clubs or bars on travel- especially if I don't know the lay of the land, and I'm in an area not really served by TER (like Hampton Roads or Indiana); but I do agree with you, that it's hard to be intimidated by any civvie, when you're getting the attention of some of the most beautiful, fascinating women in the world!
...I wonder if you think women on travel have just as much of a wandering eye as men. I have found this to be the case in Vegas, but I don't travel much for work or solo.
everyone looks (even women)... I was told by a friend "I'm Married, not Buried"
- it does matter what you are wearing, sometimes its the shoes, or its the way the clothes are cut
- If I get eye contact with a little return wow factor (i.e interest back) then I begin the quest (not laying low)
- Pretend? Fantasize? why waste the time when you can get what you want with a little effort
I am an alpha male (that is what I am told) and IMHO the only thing the hobby has done for me (to the "Civilian world" as you put it) is bedroom practice... as far as approaching women, I have not had a problem with that in the past...
Klondike bar? I prefer homemade ice cream dipped in magic shell....
BTW I have seen you in the lobby of a hotel once and I have to say, you are right, it doesn't matter what you are wearing or what state of alertness you may be in (i.e bedhead or..) I would stare and say "DAMN!!!!
