to stay in when visiting DC?  I've never been and I want to make sure that the area is safe and has plenty to do.  Oh! I also love to eat so any restaurant suggestions?  I love everything from Thai to South African
food so all suggestions are welcome.  Not a picky eater.

I can give you some good advice but I will not post it on a public board.

Depends... If you are looking to stay in DC proper then I'd say Dupont is the best! Plenty of places to walk to and allot to do.

If you are looking at Maryland... Bethesda has allot to offer....

In VA... Alexandria and/or Arlington have much the samein the way of restaurants and things to do..

In both cases on the VA and MD side they are close enough to DC that you can get a bot of everything as well!
