Glad to see this, the post that is. As I said in the similar post from a client it happens on both sides. Sorry it happened to you and I can't imagine anybody canceling on you, but as the saying goes 'you can't fix stupid'. I understand the need for compensation for your time, its business and your time is money. Question is 'How do you collect?" One of the ladies on my 'to see before I die' list, as are you, has the same policy. How do you collect? He has shown his stupidity and has probably not fully read your policy, therefore, ignorant. He's just seen the pretty pictures, read great reviews and went for it. Another quote: Benjamin Franklin - 'We are all born ignorant, but one must work hard to remain stupid.'
I think the ladies will understand, the guys, not so much.
Good luck,
Baiser

I know about the only thing that made me actually show up to my first date with a provider was that I would have felt bad wasting their time and money!

I would actually contact his two references and let them know not to refer him anymore. That'll save others your experience if he can't get anyone!

As a client and a gentleman, I find this behavior rude and extremely inconsiderate.  I would never expect a lady who travelled an hour to see me to return home empty-handed.  It seems to me that such behavior should have consequences - more than just not being able to see the lady again.  Given how difficult it is for the lady to collect if she acts alone, a general "do not see this jerk" policy would work.  If all ladies respected such a policy, it would be a very effective deterrent to inconsiderate last minute cancellations generally.  Of course, there have been times when I have had to cancel within 24 hours of an appointment, butI've always offered to reschedule.

The present system of each lady determines for herself what to do simply isn't effective.  If we wants hobby based on mutual respect and professional behavior, then we need to adopt a common approach and enforce it as a community.  We shouldn't continue to tolerate extremely bad behavior without imposing consequences.

My schedule is most of the time tight, and last night wasn't any different, I had a request for a 2hr appt starting at 10p with a client with 2 recommendations of well known providers. He was visiting the area. So, after I get in the car and drive almost 1 hr at night he decided to cancel 10 mins before saying that he really tried to do this before but he couldn't because he ran into a lady he knew so that made him to be unconsiderate and really waited that long.
So, I ended up driving for 1 more hr back home and thanking God for putting a person like that out of my way.
Now, after my cancellation policy is that when things like this happen the full donation should be pay.

What do you Ladies would do if something like that happens to you? I would love to know since is the first time I encountered this situation.
Thanks to all of you for your time on this note.

 Besos,
 Monique

A 50% cancel fee within 24 hrs and 100% if less then 24!

I also had this happen and it was such a pain in the butt!

I thought the "good" guys subsidize the cost of "bad" guys. Like higher store prices in a corner store that tends to be targeted my thieves...

If you went to work and there was a sign on the door 'Close for the day. We decided this morning not to be open today. Employees will not be paid', would you feel cheated? Wouldn't you want to be paid for commuting and it wasn't your fault they were closed?

Every business has to take it in the shorts once in awhile, that's part of doing business.  Impossible to collect so you just become smarter and wiser - and move on.   What I would do in the future, however - is insist on a PayPal for the drive part before you get in the car.  $ 100 or whatever you need for that - PayPal is pretty easy to use.  At least that way if there is a no-show, you have the trip money.

its simple.

not everyone agrees with cancellation policies, and thats ok.
if you dont agree with them, you dont plan a date with a lady who has one. (or just dont cancel, lol)

if you have a clearly written and posted cancellation policy, he owes it to you.

i just had someone who wrote me one of the most glowing reviews of my life just up and disappear. it has been over 48 hours. i share his info with other ladies. just as the guys would share my info if i did this to them.

:)

You should have taken a deposit for the late night appointment.  Otherwise, what's the real loss?  Sounds to me like you're not pressed for clients; you got a couple more hours of sleep that night.  Glass half full, life is too short.

First of all, I would have told the friend I had encountered that I had plans for later on in the evening.  If this was not possible, then  I would have excused myself to go to the restroom can call as early as possible.  No excuse for waiting until 10 minutes before the start of the date.

One of the ladies that he used a reference with gave him a discount session and he was not honest enough to tell you that. The dc are goes through phases where guys will fill the book of appointments with visiting providers then cancel at the last minute. Seems like that game is still going on today.

Monique,

This is clearly not right! With this late cancellation, the "gentleman" (used loosely) should pay the cancellation rate in effect the time of your meeting, as it was his choice that you spent your date in your car alone. That said, I wonder if having the aid of an assistant, even one as TRULY pleasant as Miss Betty, might sometime make it harder for a guy to get to know you before meeting, and therefore make it easier for him to cancel? I mean, if the two of you had shared a few pleasant emails or phone calls leading-up to the first meeting, he likely would have been so excited to finally meet you that he never would have cancelled.
