Tracfone and Verizon's Inpulse are both good - you don't need to provide real info to activate.

Another option -- I have not compared them all -- is to get the cheapest Virgin Mobile phone you can find.  Target carries them, and the "top-up" cards are available at 7-11.

Tough to beat 7-11 speakout. Cheap phones, reload @ 7-11, always pay cash, and you never have to give any personal info.

Like everybody else is saying, get a go phone, it's cheap and you pay for however much you use, it's not like you'll be having 1 hour conversations on the phone.

Thanks everybody for your advise.  I just do not want to get robbed by the phone company again.  They got me already with my regular phone, lol.  I just need a phone to use a few minutes at a time to set my play time :)

Any of these work with a Blackberry?  I have about five laying around and I'd never get the "why do you have an extra phone...." questions.

Not sure that I agree with having a separate phone for this, which just draws attention to itself. If a spouse discovered it's harder to explain that just having some calls that can be erased. I would stick to one personal phone.

And then the SO or wife has the bill show up in the mail, and starts calling some of the numbers that she does not recognize. Thinking she has found your girlfriend and where all the money is going. To her shock it is answering machines of Escort agencies and Indies. Then she puts the numbers in google and finds ads of Escorts and the Jig is up my friend.

Hide the hobby phone with no bill showing up at the house. Register it under a fake name. Play safe.

Its Free, you can have a seperate number and you can still use your own phone.

The only requirement is that you are not a putz with technology.

The "You Got Mail" folkes should just stick with standing by a pay phone with a bag of quarters.

You will still make all your calls through your regular phone using Google voice.  That's the biggest downside I can see. I use it a lot, but having a separate phone entirely leaves no tracks.

Downside is that you'll have to hide the hobby phone somewhere.

Be prepared to tell your wife that you found it and meant to turn it in to lost and found. Then throw it away. I would even hand it to her to throw away.
Be sure to use the lock feature with a password, so no one can look through it if accidentally found.

I suggest the seatback in your car, trunk, under the seat. or a less used pocket in your backpack/briefcase.

Never make calls to your personal life with it.
And never from your personal phones to that phone, "just to check it out"

I personally felt the 2nd phone was harder to explain away.  Wife never sees the e-bill.
