I had recently found a provider that was willing to meet with me, without references and me having no reviews.  I setup the date, but the day of the meeting, I had to cancel due to a family illness.  I have sent a couple of emails to her, but she is not responding like she had been.  Just wondering if everyone thinks that I may have blown my chance?

No screening by her and you having no reviews? She is not being very careful so maybe you lucked out.

There are other ways of screening besides just provider references.
Maybe you could offer to send her a 25% deposit so she knows you are serious

providers are not always the best at responding to e-mails..particularly if there may not be an immedidate appointment in the offing..

Since you had to cancel and you were a newbie and were not easy (maybe not possible) to screen, my thought is she may respond if she has nothing more pressing to occupy her time. On the other hand, I would not hold my breathe.

You might try her back in a few weeks after the dust has settled if you dont hear from her. Time can have an amazing effect on providers' responsiveness depending on their current level of activity.

Hope this provides a little perspective for you.

Thanks all, the comments posted are all great aspects towards this.  I was screened, but just having no references was the downfall I think.  I will keep trying, and even wait a couple of weeks.
