I know a provider in another city who cannot bring herself to read her reviews. She says it is too personal and too sensitive. Interestingly, she raised the idea of the providers rating the hobbyists. Any guys up for that?
Another provider says she always reads them in detail. I'm not sure of her reason.
In speaking engagements and training sessions, I have been rated, so I understand the sensitivity. On the other hand, feedback can be very useful. Maybe I was doing something that needed to be improved. Constructive criticism is often beneficial, as long as it is received appropriately. Skme folks rate more liberally, while others are more demanding. Another thing to keep in mind is that YMMV always applies. For the providers who receive mostly 10s, I have to think that they have an occasional bad day or they are not quite what the hobbyist is seeking. No one should get bent out of shape over a single review. The numbers and rankings are a bit like the US News college rankings. The #1 school may not be any better than the #8 school; in fact, for a given person, the #8 school might be much better. In short, they are useful but have limitations.
W.r.t. the juicy details, that can get dicey. I feel that the more info I have, the better (generally speaking). I'm very particular and have limited resources, so I want to make the best possible decision about a provider. However, when I spend intimate time with a woman, I do not want to share all the details. Some things are better left between the two of us. I try to guide my fellow hobbyists with enough info and am open to answering questions on specifics by PM rather than sharing all the details more broadly.
