That's certainty acceptable, but my point is more about ancestry than citizenship. I have heard cases where American visitors in France call French of African descent African Americans. That's kind of Americentric. There are more "hyphenated" Africans than Americans.
In the original post, Asians, South Americans and whites (Europeans, I presume) are listed, but not Africans.
