Would be interesting to have the time and relationships to be able to study to see if the rate hike thing works out for the ladies.  I suspect a lady who said --" I know times are tough, and you need to escape for a few hours more than ever, so I'm cutting my rate to $260 an hour to make it a little easier on you" -- would far exceed total revenue with the volume increase vs. less clients at a higher price.  As I'm really new to this I don't have any ladies I can talk with about this.....

Back in late 90's and early 2000's the going rate for quality indies was $300 a hr. Such legends as Vanessa Del Rio and Dominique of VA were charging that a hour. Yeah you could luck out every once in while at the $200 a hr level but that took a lot of work.  I pay $500 a hr for quality like Petite Nicole and some of the top indies from Montreal.  And Angelina DDD is a real bargain and needs to adjust her prices up to refllect the quality of the experience.

You get what you pay for doesnt matter if its a escort or a steak folks will pay for quality.  

Now the dollar began its collapse back in 2009 under Obama so gas would cost more, sorry you purchased your home at the top of the market and if you read indicators the market was due for a serious corrections.  If your home was a condo its very rare that condos appreciate like TH and single family homes except in certain complexes.  Live and learn your president didnt. Carter was responsible for the housing bubble. And just remember more people own gold then amount of gold mined so far.  Another bubble waiting to burst.

For the last 2-3 months it's been high tourist season in DC so hotel room prices are a bit inflated.  If a lady travels by car she's now paying the near $ 4/gal for gas that we all are.  If they're travelling to come here by plane or train most of those fares have been raoised to cover the higher fuel prices.  Hell, locally, even the taxis in DC are charging a $ 1/trip high fuel cost surcharge.  So the costs for a touring lady are definitely higher now than they have been for a while.  And the locals are no dummies, if they see the touring ladies are raising their rates they will be tempted to do likewise, even though their overhead may not have changed a lot.  
I would guess the touring ladies have their eye on a sort of formula of figuring total expenses (room rate X 3 or 4, plus R/T travel & taxis & daily subsistence) versus required income to make a target profit for the trip and an estimated number of expected appts. to decide what they need to charge to make the visit worthwhile.  It's not straight math, because the soft number is number of meetings.  That's why they hate cancellations so much.  Lately there've also been a few touring ladies cancelling visits if there's not enough demand.  Of course in a prefect supply & demand model that reduces supply & drives up demand, but I'm pretty sure the hobby isn't a classic supply & demand model.
So there's lots of reasons for prices to escelate, it just seems tough when many of us are losing $$$ on our investments & real estate & not getting raises becauses of the shrinkage in the economy.  Not a simple thimg to analyze, but not a pretty picture from a hobbiest viewpoint either

Probably best to "shop around", do some research on the gal, and then guestimate what your limit would be for time with her.  Some of it is overhead, some is inflation.

$200 /1hr is $3.33 per min.
$300 /1hr is $5 per min.
$400 /1hr is $6.67 per min.
$500 /1hr is $8.33 per min.

Of course this is different than walking up to someone and saying "how bout you and me go at it for $5 per min".

$250-$325 is my usual comfort zone.  I will extend on occasion for someone coming to town, or in one case for a local lady I think is way above average.  I think some of the folks trying to go upscale don't have the chops or polish to the rate they want

Obama did not cause our local ladies to raise their prices. Our fellow hobbyists did that all by themselves. For at least the past year or so, visiting ladies, many from Canada, have caused a lot of drooling on this board. They came with prices of $500 and up, and they found plenty of us willing to pay. The local ladies are not blind to what is going on here. If we are willing to pay those sorts of rates to ladies who do not appear to have anything that the locals lack, the locals are only being good business women to try to match those rates. We have already demonstrated our willingness to pay these rates.

My multi-hour date rate is reasonable :) even my 'just what you need' rate

is comensurate with today's economy... I noticed a lot of friends /clients from the past... not the ones who'd become my 'true long term friends/lovers' but the 'one timers' seemed to be more interested in their 60 minutes than 'being happy/fulfilled'...  what I noticed especially at lunch hour, is that MOST men, just need, 'what they need' and are happy to run off to work much before 60 min is over.

Those who DO WANT 60 minutes with me, do donate $$$$; but those who know they don't NEED THAT, and can even have 2 cups of tea for less than the 60 minute mark, I'm HAPPY to do an economy special
