I was cleaning out old emails from my hobby email account.
I was re-reading old emails, from 2022. I found three instances where I had screened for an appointment, then received an email request to make a deposit, which I declined.
Now, I only make appointments with providers with good reviews, so all three of these ladies had reviews at the time.
Karla Reed, Olivia Solei, and Ambyr Rose.
If you look for reviews now you will find that these were all scams or ripoffs.
In each case where a deposit was requested and I refused, it was a scam.
In this small sample, in 100% of cases where a deposit was requested, it was a scam.

There's nothing particularly wrong with shooting your shot. If men stopped shooting their shot then even more people would be celibate. I've seen men shoot their shot and get rejected many times. And very rarely if ever the men who saw this rejection made fun of the guy. Because there's certain solidarity there.

With some limited exceptions, I avoid ladies requesting deposits. Being burned on Seeking Arrangements previously is part of the reason. Main reason is i am old school and dont’t have cash apps. Not many ladies accept Amazon or similar ones thar are not potentially linked to me.

I have been on TER for almost twenty years. I have never scammed or stole anything from anyone. I pride myself in being honest and trustworthy. I refund deposits if I have to cancel. Ask about me. I am respectable in my field and when I book a date with a deposit I am ready to exceed your expectations.
I will verify that QB is legit and trustworthy. I've met her and after she cancelled our first meeting she immediately refunded my deposit. I also had no problem paying the entire amount prior to our meeting. Regardless of the grief she gets here she is truly an amazing lady in many ways.
Sure, some of the providers asking for deposits will honor the deposit and return it if they have to cancel. Some will keep it if the customer cancels -- sometimes with a cancel by date sometimes not (just like a hotel for instance). However, some with just keep it regards less.
AND THEN there is the mater being raised in the OP: scams. Scams will ALWAYS keep the deposit. By not paying one the person guarantees that they will not be scammed out of the money.
I do think the person might fall prey to some other types of scams. But the bottom line is that until someone actually has the appointment there is a very real, non zero probability all their research and all the vouches from anonymous people will still prove to have been futile.
You can, as you do here, make the claim that by following such defensive measures the person is limiting their options and possibly missing out on sessions they would really enjoy. So what. Those who prioritize not throwing money away over maybe having a good time probably don't care about missed opportunities nearly as much as they do about actual losses of hard earned money.
